Tennis practice apparatus
11691065 · 2023-07-04 ·

A tennis practice apparatus that includes a main support member that is for mounting from an upright wall; an outer support member that is hinged with the main support member and includes a closed position wherein the outer support member is engaged against the main support member, and an open position wherein the outer support member is hinged to an open position that is substantially orthogonal to the main support member; and a pliable fabric sheet that extends between a top end of the main support member and the outer support member. The pliable fabric sheet defines a surface against which a user can hit tennis balls and retrieve tennis balls therefrom.

TENNIS TEACHING TOOL
20220409978 · 2022-12-29 ·

A teaching tool for use by an instructor teaching proper footwork and effective swing techniques to students of the game of tennis as well as to students of other racket-based sports. The teaching tool provides an elongated member and a mounting member extending perpendicularly from the distal end of the elongated member. A target object is connected to the distal end of the mounting member. The target object and distal end of the elongated member may be separated by a target distance defined, in part, by the size of racket the student is using. In use, the instructor can directly and selectively control the movement of the target object to simulate imparted spin and motion of the target object before and after the student strikes the target object.

A tennis serve toss aid comprising: 1) a ring member to be placed on a finger of the non-racket holding hand of a tennis player, 2) a bowl member that holds the tennis ball, and 3) a connector member that allows the bowl member to be attached to the ring member in a variety of orientations, The tennis serve toss training aid trains the tennis player to control the tennis ball without use of the fingers to release the ball, supinate the palm, lock the wrist and elbow, and use the tossing arm as a simple lever which moves from a down position to an up position. As the arm moves to an up position the ball is released from the bowl member due to inertia. This allows the tennis player to be able to repeatedly toss the tennis ball to substantially the same position in the air where it can be struck consistently with the tennis racket to deliver the serve.

A shaft having an upper end; a first horizontal arm fixedly attached to the upper end of the shaft and a second, semi-rigid, flexible side arm fixedly attached to the first horizontal arm such that the second semi-rigid, flexible side arm bendably extends beyond the terminating end of the first horizontal arm, with a slightly downward slope; and means for releasably attaching to the side of a tennis ball provided on the second, semi-rigid, flexible side arm, such that when the tennis ball is attached to the second semi-rigid, flexible side arm, its slightly downward slope and slight curve provides a visual perception that the tennis ball is traveling on its way down to the trainee, while simultaneously being held in a manner which allows the trainee's racquet to travel up on, through and over the tennis ball, thereby repeatedly and consistently placing the tennis ball within the racquet's sweet-spot, without impeding the trainee's stroke.

Mixed-reality sports tracking and simulation

A mixed-reality sport simulation system includes a projectile-tracking sub-system to generate projectile-tracking data when a projectile is launched by a user, a near-eye display to display mixed-reality virtual objects displayed over physical objects within a field of view of a user representing lines of sight of the user, and a controller. The controller may direct the near-eye display to display a mixed-reality environment including virtual objects within the field of view. The near-eye display may provide an unobstructed real-world view for view vectors below a selected pitch angle and at least a portion of the mixed-reality environment for view vectors above a selected pitch angle. The controller may receive projectile-tracking data in real-time from the projectile-tracking sub-system and may direct the near-eye display to display one or more virtual objects representing a trajectory of the projectile within the mixed-reality environment in real-time based on the projectile-tracking data.

In a method for using a tennis serve training aid of a type having a canister with an open top, the method comprises first securing a canister along an inside length of a tennis player's forearm so that an open top of the canister is adjacent the tennis player's palm. The tennis ball is then held within the tennis player's hand adjacent the canister open top. The tennis player then raises the arm to which the canister is secured and performs a player service practice toss by tossing the tennis ball in the air so that it ascends to a peak and then falls downward. Importantly, and while keeping the arm raised, the player then catches the falling tennis ball through the open top so that the ball is retained within the canister. This process is repeated to build up muscle memory from the positive feedback of repeatedly tossing and then catching the tennis ball within the canister.

KICK SERVE TRAINING DEVICE

A kick serve training device is disclosed. The training device may include a first target positioned on a swing plane. The first target may be a ball. The training device may further include a second target positioned on the swing plane below the first target. The second target may produce audible feedback when struck by a tennis racket. The training device may further include a third target disposed on the swing plane. The third target may be positioned at approximately 180 degrees respective to the first target. The second target and/or the third target may include a flexible tubular member. The flexible tubular member may be configured to move to a deformed position when a tennis racket strikes the flexible tubular member, and return to an original position after a tennis racket strike.
