Multi-mode load absorbing ski binding

A ski binding reduces a likelihood of injury to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and the tibia is accomplished by absorption in the binding to limit loads transmitted through the boot-binding interface. Release based on an injury threshold includes a binding response tower attached to the ski and adapted for selective engagement with the ski, such that the binding response tower permits biased vertical and lateral horizontal displacement, prior to a release threshold. The binding is in communication with the boot heel and is adapted for slideable engagement in response to vertical and lateral forces exerted from the boot heel. The binding response tower adapted to disengage, or release upon reaching at least one a predetermined lateral displacement or a predetermined vertical displacement, such as when the boot heel is forced sufficiently sideways or upwards due to skier movement that would tend to cause an ACL injury.

Folding ski

The invention relates to a folding ski having an articulated connection. The technical problem is to configure a folding ski structure that will act as a classic ski, which means that the assembled structure of the folding ski will act as a uniform support. The folding ski of the invention comprises a ski front section, a ski rear section, an articulated connection that inseparably connects the ski front section with the rear section, a connecting plate intended to strengthen the articulated connection of the ski, the connecting plate comprising a front and rear base plate and a bridging plate, wherein a plurality of ribs and/or grooves in the shape of a circular arc are formed on the upper side of the front base plate and the rear base plate and a plurality of grooves and/or ribs are formed on the bottom side of the bridging plate so that each pair of a rib and a groove forms a positive lock connection that transfers longitudinal shear forces, and at least a part of the ribs is formed with at least one flap and the corresponding groove is formed with a notch which receives a flap so as to form a positive lock connection which also transfers vertical forces.

Splitboard boot binding system and climbing bar combinations

A splitboard boot binding system with single multi-angle climbing wire. The pivotable climbing wire is configured for use with any compatible ski tour interface, and folds away under the boot binding baseplate when the bindings are transferred to a ride mode interface. In ski tour mode, the baseplate pivots on a toe axis and is supported by the climbing wire when the heel is raised. Advantageously, the climbing wire is very lightweight and seats interchangeably in a plurality of detent positions on a compatible heelblock. There are no interferences with conjoint use of a slide-in crampon seated between the heelblock and the toe pivot or with use in systems having a heel locker. Surprisingly, in some combinations the climbing wire may also be used to retain the slider track in ride mode. The combinations and sub-combinations require no tools for adjustment or operation and operate cooperatively.
