Deploying a plurality of planar layers for lottery tickets

A system and method for providing instant games in both physical scratch-off and virtual forms wherein at least a portion of the winning value of the instant game is determined by a plurality of planar layers with the concordance of the planar layers determining value enhancements. The distribution and composition of the concordance of the plurality of planar layers is configured to ensure compliance with a predetermined prize outcome prize fund.

A laminated construct such as a ticket or game piece includes an internal on-demand thermally printable layer hidden between substantially opaque substrates. One of the substrates is a metallized film and the other substrate is a direct thermal print medium. The construct can be arranged in various ways including an arrangement for presenting some thermally printed information for immediate viewing and other thermally printed information that is temporarily hidden from view beneath the metallized film. The arrangements include arranging the metallized film as a plurality of island that are individually peelable apart from the direct thermal print medium for revealing the temporarily hidden information.

Instant ticket redundancy via multi-chromatic indicia with photoreceptor sensitivity to different wavelengths of light

A redundantly printed security-enhanced document, printing method, and system for better ensuring that the meaning of the information imparted by variable indicia printed by redundant printing indicia on a document protected by a removable Scratch-Off Coating (SOC). By printing the variable indicia with multiple colors, redundancy and integrity of the intended indicia is achieved relative to the perception of human eye photoreceptor cones. The redundantly printed document, methods, and systems enhance the overall appearance of the redundantly printed document, and reduce possible consequences resulting from misprinted variable indicia.

A security-enhanced document includes a substrate and variable indicia comprising ink having a signal. The variable indicia is of a specific type and is applied to the substrate using a specific application technique. At least one other printed portion, which is a back of the document, has background ink noise, and the type of ink of the back of the document is of the same type of ink applied to the substrate using the same application technique as the ink of the variable indicia. The document also includes a scratch-off-coating applied over the variable indicia. The document has a signal-to-noise ratio of the ink of the variable indicia relative to the background ink noise of the back of the document that is not appreciable, thereby making the variable indicia unreadable with reference to the back of the document when the scratch-off-coating remains intact.

Imaging video frames on documents

Security-enhanced documents and methods of forming security-enhanced documents having indicia under a Scratch-Off Coating (SOC), and more particularly including digitally imaging video frames onto the display area and/or back of the documents. In certain embodiments, portions of digitally imaged video frames are also utilized as game play variable indicia.

An instant lottery ticket game system and method includes a set of scratch-off lottery ticket blanks, each lottery ticket blank having a composition area and a separate game play area with play indicia that presents a pre-determined game outcome, the play indicia covered by a scratch-off coating (SOC). The set of lottery ticket blanks are housed within an automated dispenser. An interface is configured with the dispenser and is in communication with the printer, the interface configured to accept player input of personalized indicia for printing in the composition area. A printer is operably configured with the dispenser and is in communication with the interface via a controller. The printer prints the personalized indicia from the player in the composition area to generate a finished scratch-off lottery ticket prior to dispensing of the finished lottery ticket from the dispenser.
