Cleaning system for filter beds

A cleaning system for filter beds uses the existing permanent infrastructure of a water filtration plant. Treatment fluids of opposite pH are introduced into a pair of filter cells that are separated by a gullet. Each filter cell contains a filter bed. One filter cell receives an acidic treatment fluid and the other receives an alkaline treatment fluid. After treatment is complete, the treatment fluids from each filter cell are simultaneously drained into the gullet, where mixing and neutralization occur. The resulting spent treatment fluid has an intermediate pH that allows it to be safely drained into a wastewater sewer.

An interface seal assembly for sealing a tubular filter element relative to a first component and a second component of a fluid filtration system. The interface seal assembly comprises an body located between the first and second components, and having: an aperture extending through the body for communicating with an internal cavity of the filter element; a first mounting surface comprising a first seal groove; and a second mounting surface opposite the first mounting surface, comprising a second seal groove. One of the first and second seal grooves has a circular shape, and the other has a non-circular shape. A first seal is located in the first seal groove, for sealing the interface body relative to one of the first and second components. A second seal is located in the second seal groove, for sealing the body relative to the other of the first and second components.

FILTER DEVICE

A filter unit is provided for filtering a liquid. The filter unit is intended to be connected to a cap including a first liquid passage and a second liquid passage 114. The filer unit includes: a canister; and a filter cartridge rotatably arranged within the canister, the filter cartridge includes a first filter connection for liquid to pass through, the first filter connection is intended to be connected to the first liquid passage in the cap, wherein the canister is intended to be rotatably attachable to the cap such that, when the canister is attached to the cap by a rotating action, the filter cartridge is stationary to the cap.

Process of removing a metal from a fluid hydrocarbon

A process of removing at least one metal contaminant, such as copper, from a fluid hydrocarbon, for example, crude oil or a liquid hydrocarbon fuel, such as an aviation fuel. The process involves contacting the metal-contaminated fluid hydrocarbon with a sorbent selected from graphene oxide or a functionalized graphene oxide, particularly, a graphene oxide treated with a polycarboxylic acid, such as a saccharide polycarboxylic acid or a salt thereof, examples of which include alginic acid and Group IA and IIA salts thereof. The process removes greater than 99 percent of the metal contaminant without reducing concentrations of advantageous fuel additives, such as, antioxidants, icing inhibitors and corrosion inhibitors. Also described are a purified fluid hydrocarbon composition and a metal contaminant filter system.
