APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR IMPROVING THE EFFICIENCY OF A NEW OR EXISTING FILTER FOR FILTERING WATER OR WASTEWATER
Devices and methods associated with these devices for significantly improving the efficiency of an existing or new filter having a granular media filter bed. The methods and devices are designed to increase the height and hence overall volume of the filter bed to allow for longer filtration runs between washing or cleaning cycles of the granular media filter bed. One embodiment includes a multi-wash trough adapter that upon removal of an existing deep wash trough connects two shallow wash troughs or two shallow wash trough channels to an existing wash trough opening formed in a wall of a filter compartment. The shallow members have a height significantly less than the height of the existing deep wash trough, e.g., one third to one half of the height of the existing deep wash trough allowing the volume of the granular media filter bed to be significantly increased.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING LIQUID LEVELS IN SAND FILTERS AND EFFECTIVE AIR SCOURING DURING BACKWASH
A filter device may include a tank, a drainage section at a lower most end of the tank, a filter medium above the drainage section and below an upper most end of the tank, and a plurality of sensors provided on the tank. A first sensor may be configured to measure a first height of the filter medium. A second sensor and third sensor may be configured to measure a second height of fluids within the tank. Additionally, air is configured to be pumped through the filter medium during an air scouring cycle. A control system may be operational coupled to the filter device, the control system may be configured to maintain the fluids at the second height at a predetermined distance of one inch above the first height during the air scouring cycle.
Lightweight fibrous media (LFM) filter
A filtration system using lightweight fibrous media (LFM) that are pre-compressed either 1) manually; or 2) in-situ using hydraulic flow; and where the LFM are forced to separate and relax for cleaning either: 1) manually, 2) in-situ in their filter housing, or 3) in an auto-clean system using separate devices in order to enact a particularly aggressive cleaning process. A plurality of lightweight fibrous media balls are pre-compressed and used to form a single mass that can filter water as the media are compressed by pre-compression before installation, or by water flow pushing on a pre-compression plate during filtration thereby forming a single mass providing multitudes of tortuous paths through which water can flow and the media can capture small particulate matter.

Water treatment tank with distributor plate assembly and method of assembly
A water treatment system, such as a water softening system, having a water treatment tank with at least one distributor plate mounted inside to support filter media and/or ion exchange resin. The water treatment system is designed to treat hard water with a packed ion-exchange filter media and has a distributor plate design for facilitating the ion-exchange within a water softener resin bed, as well as facilitating the regeneration of the resin bed. The distributor plate presents cavities to the topside for entrapping filter media, and the cavities have narrow slits located at the base for allowing fluid to pass. A method for assembling the water treatment tank and supporting inserted distributor plate is shown. The distributor plate rest on and is supported by a domed-shaped structure that can be placed in the bottom portion of the water treatment vessel.
MEDIA TANK
A media tank includes a housing having a first housing portion coupled to a second housing portion at an interface between the first and second housing portions, the first and second housing portions collectively defining an interior volume of the housing, and a divider positioned within the interior volume of the housing at the interface between the first and second housing portions to separate the interior volume into a first chamber at least partially defined by the first housing portion and the divider and a second chamber at least partially defined by the second housing portion and the divider. The first housing portion is coupled to the second housing portion via a friction weld at the interface. An annular gap is provided between the divider and the first housing portion. Flash from the friction weld is received within the annular gap.
SUPPORT GRID ASSEMBLY FOR PRESSURE VESSEL
A support grid assembly for use in a pressure vessel includes one or more screen panel assemblies that are flexibly, fluidly coupled to a central fluid manifold. Each screen panel assembly is operably slidably inserted into a central fluid manifold, whereby a flexible connection fluidly individually seals each screen panel assembly to the central fluid manifold. Through the use of a flexible connection, each screen panel assembly can individually slide, rotate or otherwise shift relative to the central fluid manifold and into engagement with a vessel floor regardless of inconsistencies in the vessel floor.
