A horizontal filter press (100) is provided with a track (105) and a plurality of filter plate assemblies (101) supported by side bars (104). A washer carriage (2), which is movably supported on the track (105), includes a washer unit (1) for washing the filter plate assemblies (101). The washer unit (1) may include a wash water manifold (11) having a first outlet (13) for feeding wash water to a first spindle (19) and a second outlet (14) for feeding wash water to a second spindle (19). Each of the spindles (19) may include a reel (20) for spooling a flexible hose (23) thereon, and they are each configured to be rotated with respect to the washer carriage (2). A first end of a spray bar (25) fluidly communicates with a first flexible hose (23) supported by a reel (20) on the first spindle (19).

A filter press for separating solid components from liquid components of a slurry. The filter press includes a compression system coupled to a stationary pressure plate of the filter press. The compression system includes at least one electrically operated compression actuator having a planetary screw assembly, and a transport system coupled to a displaceable pressure plate of the filter press. The transport system includes at least one electrically operated transport actuator having a rack and pinion drive assembly. The compression system rigidly connects to the transport system so as to form, for each respective pair of compression actuators and transport actuators, a common actuator link which extends linearly from the stationary pressure plate to the displaceable pressure plate along the longitudinal dimension. A retrofitting kit for a filter press, a method for replacing an existing compression and transport system for a filter press and a method for controlling a filter press are set forth.

A self-cleaning system for a plate press (100) or cylinder press (110) for filtering a fluid product and for eliminating waste material accumulated on filter membranes (13) in a waste accumulation area (102) of the plate press (100) or cylinder press (110), said system comprising a drain port (DP) adjacent to the waste accumulation area (102), said system comprising an area (103) creating a circulation of water and/or forced air jets within the waste accumulation area (102) to expel the waste to the drain port (DP), whereby the waste accumulation area (102) is cleaned from the waste material without having to disassemble the plate press or cylinder press.

A liquid filtration apparatus includes a series of upright filter plates forming a filter plate pack. Filtering spaces are formed in the filter plate pack. The liquid filtration apparatus includes at least one filtering space and a filter chamber that is at least partly limited laterally by a filter media. The at least one filtering space has an elongated bottom discharge opening at a level below the filter chamber. The elongated bottom discharge opening is provided with a first openable and closable hatch arrangement and with a second openable and closable hatch arrangement extending across the elongated bottom discharge opening.

A liquid filtration apparatus includes a series of upright filter plates forming a filter plate pack. Filtering spaces are formed in the filter plate pack. The liquid filtration apparatus includes at least one filtering space and a filter chamber that is at least partly limited laterally by a filter media. The at least one filtering space has an elongated bottom discharge opening at a level below the filter chamber. The elongated bottom discharge opening is provided with a first openable and closable hatch arrangement and with a second openable and closable hatch arrangement extending across the elongated bottom discharge opening.

A filtrate collector element includes a hollow body forming a first opening portion, a second opening portion, and an intermediate portion. The intermediate portion forms a conduit between the first opening portion and the second opening portion. The collector element may be coupled with a pressure filter plate element. The outer dimension of the first opening portion is smaller than the inner dimension of the second opening portion, such that first opening portion of a preceding collector element can be at least partly nested in the second opening portion of a subsequent collector element. Various embodiments of a filter (31 38, 42) are disclosed. According to some embodiments, filter (31, 38, 42) may have a frame (34) and washing means operatively coupled to the frame (34) which is configured to wash one or more filter cloths simultaneously, the filter cloths being attached to a respective number of filter plate assemblies (13) which are supported by the frame (34). The washing means may comprise a laterally traversing washer mechanism, the laterally traversing washer mechanism being configured to move (8) along a lateral axis (35) of the filter (31, 38, 42) from a first side of the one or more filter cloths to a second side of the one or more filter cloths. In some embodiments, the washing means may be operatively coupled to the frame (34) via a track (3) and a washer carriage (1) on the track (3). In some embodiments, the washer carriage may be further provided with means, for example, to simultaneously shake one or more filter plate assemblies (13), without limitation. Methods of filtering slurry comprising the steps of moving (8) a laterally traversing washer mechanism in a direction along a lateral axis (35) of a filter (31, 38, 42); rotating at least one spray bar (2); and providing wash water to the at least one spray bar (2) are further disclosed.
