A filter medium for removing contaminants from water includes a matrix including a plurality of fibers having an electrostatic charge such that the matrix is configured to remove contaminants from water by electrostatic attraction. The filter medium further includes a filler material including a ceramic substrate containing a mineral. The filler material is embedded in the matrix. When water flows through the filter medium, the mineral at least partially dissolves in the water such that a cavity is formed in the matrix in a location of the at least partially dissolved mineral.

The present invention relates to a filter for filtration of oil and/or fuel comprising a combination of a bypass filter portion and a full flow filter portion. The present invention also relates to a method of using the filter for filtration of oil and/or fuel to remove the water/moisture and particulate contaminants therein.

A filter element includes an unfiltered side via which a fluid is able to be introduced, and a filtered side via which fluid is able to be output, and first and second filter mediums that are situated between the unfiltered and filtered sides, where the first filter medium has a lower relative pressure loss than the second filter medium in a flow direction of the fluid from the filtered side to the unfiltered side.

An oil filter assembly is disclosed for a machine, such as an internal combustion engine, that has an oil output port and an oil input port. A mounting plate is fixed with an outer enclosure. The mounting plate is further adapted to conduct oil from the machine into a peripheral portion of the outer enclosure, and then returning oil from a central portion of the outer enclosure back to the machine. Oil may pass from the peripheral portion to the central portion through a primary filter having a first porosity. A pressure-actuated valve is fixed fluidly between the portions of the outer enclosure.

A filtration assembly is provided that comprises a filter cartridge and a filter head, that has particular application for liquid filtration, such as engine fuel filtration in an embodiment. The filter cartridge can include a thread and a torsion lock detent to provide twist and lock mounting to the filter head. Separately, the filter cartridge can include a slidable piston that can become pressurized by application of liquid pressure during operation that can apply an axial force to the filter head to load the thread and increase threaded attachment rigidity and/or the natural frequency of the filter cartridge to a more desirable level, and thereby limit vibrational impacts.

According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a filter assembly includes a filter housing including a housing inlet and a housing outlet, and a filtering section located downstream of the housing inlet and upstream of the housing outlet. The filtering section includes a first filtering portion, a second filtering portion, a wall longitudinally separating the first filtering portion and the second filtering portion, a filtering outlet, and a valve located in the filtering outlet. The valve includes a closed condition and an open condition, and wherein, in the valve closed condition the valve blocks flow from the second filtering portion to the housing outlet.

The disclosure pertains to a spin-on fluid treatment device, including a treatment medium disposed within a housing, a top surface having an internally threaded bore and an outlet tube at least partially disposed inside said threaded bore in a concentric position. The outlet tube can have an externally oriented sealing portion for engaging with a complementary element of an inlet spud of an entity that receives said treated fluids. The outlet tube can be configured as an alignment feature to guide the treatment device onto the inlet spud during installation. The outlet tube can be configured with both an externally oriented sealing portion and an alignment feature. The disclosure also pertains to a system comprising a machine having a treatment device head and a spin-on fluid treatment device, a kit, a spin-on fluid filter cartridge, and a method of mounting a spin-on filter cartridge onto a filter head.

A filter comprising a housing defining an inlet, a first outlet and a second outlet, a first filter element arranged between the inlet and the first outlet such that a portion of the fluid that flows into the inlet flows through the first filter element and out of the first outlet, a second filter element arranged between the inlet and the second outlet such that a portion of the fluid that flows into the inlet flows through the second filter element and out of the second outlet, wherein the first filter element comprises a sintered material filter.
