Radial flow reactor
11707723 · 2023-07-25 ·

The present disclosure relates to a radial flow reactor including a pair of beds configured to produce a product by processing a raw material supplied thereto. A substance being produced or the product is movable between the pair of beds before the product is moved to a separate reservoir. The ratio of the area of an outlet with respect to the area of an inlet in each of the pair of beds is adjusted such that, when the substance being produced or the product is introduced into the outlet of one bed of the pair of beds from the other bed of the pair of beds, limited processing efficiency caused by the limited area of the outlet in each of the pair of beds is overcome.

GAS TREATMENT ELEMENT AND A METHOD OF FORMING A GAS TREATMENT ELEMENT
20230233990 · 2023-07-27 ·

A method of forming a gas treatment element for use in a gas treatment apparatus, such as a desiccant dryer, is disclosed. The element is formed by casting a sheet material by phase inversion of a dope mixture including a solvent, an adsorbent material such as a desiccant and a polymer binder. Layers of the sheet material are located adjacent one another and this is most readily achieved by rolling the sheet material to form the gas treatment element.

CO.SUB.2 .capture from dilute sources

Systems and methods are provided for separation of CO.sub.2 from dilute source streams. The systems and methods for the separation can include use of contactors that correspond radial flow adsorbent modules that can allow for efficient contact of CO.sub.2-containing gas with adsorbent beds while also facilitating use of heat transfer fluids in the vicinity of the adsorbent beds to reduce or minimize temperature variations. In particular, the radial flow adsorbent beds can be alternated with regions of axial flow heat transfer conduits to provide thermal management. The radial flow structure for the adsorbent beds combined with axial flow conduits for heat transfer fluids can allow for sufficient temperature control to either a) reduce or minimize temperature variations within the adsorbent beds or b) facilitate performing the separation using temperature as a swing variable for controlling the working capacity of the adsorbent.

Porous Solid Amine Adsorbents and Applications

Porous solid amine adsorbents are prepared by bringing into contact a first (e.g., dope) solution, including a water insoluble polymer and a water-soluble amine polymer, with an aqueous solution containing a multifunctional chemical agent. The first solution can be obtained by dissolving the water insoluble polymer and the water-soluble amine polymer in a polar solvent. The adsorbents can be in the form of beads, sheets, fibers, hollow fibers, etc. and can be used in the removal of acid gases, CO.sub.2, for instance, from fluid streams.

CONTINUOUS-MOTION DIRECT AIR CAPTURE SYSTEM

A system and a method for continuously separating carbon dioxide from gas mixtures, utilizing a continuous loop of porous monoliths which support a sorbent within its pores. Continuously exposing a portion of the continuous loop of monoliths to a flow of gas mixture containing a minor proportion of carbon dioxide, to adsorb carbon dioxide from the flow. The loop passes through a sealed regeneration and carbon dioxide capture assembly located astride a portion of the loop, and which is capable of sealingly containing a monolith in relative movement through the assembly. The assembly chamber comprises a plurality of separately sealed zones, including at least one zone for purging oxygen from the monoliths, -a subsequent zone for heating the monolith to release the adsorbed carbon dioxide, and another cooling zone for cooling the monolith prior to reentering the adsorption portion of the loop where it is exposed to oxygen.

PRE-PURIFICATION ARRANGEMENT FOR AIR SEPARATION AND METHOD OF HYBRID AIR PURIFICATION

A method and apparatus for purifying air via a pre-purification unit (PPU) of an air separation unit (ASU) system can include passing air through a first adsorber of the PPU to purify the air for operation of the ASU system while it is at or below a first pre-selected operational capacity. In response to the operational capacity of the ASU system needing to be increased to a level above the first pre-selected operational capacity threshold, a second adsorber can be brought on-line in parallel with the first adsorber or in series with the first adsorber to provide improved purification capacity to account for the increased demand for purification capacity resulting from the increased operational capacity of the ASU system. This second adsorber can be different from the first adsorber (e.g. different in size, adsorption capacity for impurities within air, and/or configuration, etc.).

Sorption device

A sorption device for filtering evaporation emissions from a fuel tank, includes a vessel, with a first opening connected to an air removal path of the fuel tank and a second opening opening to atmosphere, a middle annular space between a radial outer circumferential boundary of the middle annular space and a radial inner circumferential boundary thereof radially inwardly spaced apart from the outer boundary, a first annular space formed between a radial inner surface of a fluid-tight circumferential outer shell of the vessel, the radial outer boundary being radially inwardly spaced from the inner surface, a sorbent material arranged in the middle annular space, and evaporation emissions from the fuel tank are guided through the first opening into the first annular space, through the sorbent material into a central space of the vessel in the radial direction, and through the second opening to atmosphere or another sorption device.
