Each fiber layer independently has a thickness of 5 μm to 100 μm, and each layer independently has a pore size of 0.1 μm to 10 μm. A filter may include a housing and the composite media disposed within the housing. The filter may be a syringe filter.
Method and apparatus for advanced vacuum membrane distillation
Embodiments provide methods and structures for purification or volume reduction of a brine by an advanced vacuum distillation process (AVMD) to achieve higher flux by passage of vapors through an AVMD distillation unit. In one example, brine is circulated in a tank. The tank may include one or more membrane pouches that are submerged in the circulating brine or placed above the water level of the hot circulating brine. In other embodiments the membrane pouches are outside of the tank that includes the hot circulating brine but still in communication with it. The circulating brine is heated, allowing creation of water vapor. Using a vacuum, the water vapor is drawn through the membrane, where it may be condensed and subjected to further beneficial use. This process can concentrate to levels to generate crystals or solids, which can be separated and utilized.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FORTIFYING BREAST MILK
Concentrating nutrients in breast milk may be achieved using an apparatus comprising a first sheet of material comprising a forward osmotic membrane, a second sheet of material sealed to the first sheet of material about a common outer perimeter thereof, the first sheet of material arranged so that water can traverse the forward osmotic membrane to an interior of the first and second sheets, and a dry carbohydrate within the interior of the first and second sheets exhibiting an osmotic draw property to draw water from un-concentrated, expressed human milk to form concentrated human milk. After a predetermined time, or upon the milk remaining after drawing of water through the membrane being a desired amount, the water draw can end.
DISC TUBE REVERSE OSMOSIS MODULE
A disc tube reverse osmosis module is provided. In various embodiments, deflector disc assemblies and associated membranes are sequentially alternately disposed from top to bottom. The upper flange is in sealing connection with the central pull rod, the upper lock nut is in threaded connection with an upper end of the central pull rod and located above the upper flange, the yielding water collecting pipe sleeves the central pull rod and is in sealing connection with a lower side of the lower flange, the lower lock nut is in threaded connection with a lower end of the central pull rod, an end of the yielding water receiving pipe is fixedly connected to the yielding water collecting pipe, an inner surface of the shell is respectively in sealing connection with the upper flange and the lower flange, and the water inlet receiving pipe and the concentrated liquid receiving pipe are fixed to the lower flange.
SHEET LAMINATE, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING GAS SUPPLY BODY, GAS SUPPLY BODY, SUPPLY BODY UNIT, AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT DEVICE
Provided is a sheet laminate that enables the purification performance of a wastewater treatment apparatus to be maintained. A sheet laminate 21 is used in a wastewater treatment apparatus for purifying wastewater using action of microorganisms in the wastewater. The sheet laminate 21 comprises a base material 211 and a gas-permeable non-porous layer 212, the base material 211 being a microporous membrane.
Deep sludge dewatering method using electroosmosis with filter bags
A deep sludge dewatering method using electroosmosis with filter bags, including (1) placing a filter bag on a slope on which a cathode electrode is arranged; (2) injecting sludge into the filter bag, and after the filter bag is filled with the sludge, closing an inlet of the filter bag; and (3) laying an anode electrode on the filter bag filled with the sludge, and connecting the cathode electrode and the anode electrode to a DC power supply via an electric wire, and carrying out energization for electroosmosis so that water flows down the slope. The present invention can be used for recycling of the sludge produced in underground and tunnel excavation projects, and has the advantages of large processing capacity, simple process, good treatment effect and available resource recycling.
Chamber for transplantation and device for transplantation
According to the present invention, there are provided a chamber for transplantation, as a planar chamber for transplantation which has a structure in which membranes for immunoisolation face each other, and which is capable of stably enclosing a biological constituent, including a membrane for immunoisolation at a boundary between an inside and an outside of the chamber for transplantation, in which the membranes for immunoisolation which face each other have joint portions that are joined to each other, an interior space includes a point at a distance of 10 mm or longer from any position of the joint portion, and the membrane for immunoisolation has flexibility that allows a distance of 1 mm to 13 mm as the following distance: in a case where a portion of 10 mm from a side surface of one short side of a 10 mm30 mm rectangular test piece of the membrane for immunoisolation is vertically sandwiched between flat plates, and the flat plates are placed horizontally, a distance between a horizontal plane including a center plane in a thickness direction of the sandwiched portion of the membrane for immunoisolation, and a part, which is farthest from the horizontal plane, of a residual 20 mm-portion projecting from the flat plate; and a device for transplantation including the chamber for transplantation enclosing a biological constituent therein.
BENDABLE FLEXIBLE FLAT MEMBRANE MODULE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
A bendable flexible flat membrane module includes: a membrane facing each other and constituting both outer surfaces; a support member made of a flexible material and embedded inside the membrane constituting the both outer surfaces; and a plurality of point bonding portions formed by pressing and bonding the both outer surfaces facing each other at a predetermined point.
FORWARD OSMOSIS MEDICAL AND WOUND CARE DEVICES
Devices and methods herein remove water from human or animal biological waste fluids using one or more forward osmosis filters. The devices allow for the volume of liquid or semi-liquid waste, including potentially infectious liquid waste, to be filtered to reduce potential exposure of healthcare staff to infectious liquid waste. On a hospital, healthcare staff, or individual patient basis, removing water and concentrating the waste can reduce challenges in management and disposal of the waste. Devices herein use forward osmosis to manage and filter, using one or more suitably sized filter(s), biological fluid exudate from wounds. The devices can be constructed to transport water present in the exudate away from a wound. The wound treatment devices herein not only allow for fluid from wounds to be filtered but also provide structures that can protect wounds from external contaminants, including bacteria and viruses. The wound treatment devices can be incorporated into negative pressure wound therapy systems, if desired.
