A mixing aerator is disclosed that includes a housing defining a chamber having a bottom end and a top end, the housing having at least one inlet and at least one outlet; and a longitudinally extending diffuser disposed within the chamber and configured to deliver air bubbles into the chamber when the chamber is filled with liquid. The diffuser includes (a) a tubular elastomeric membrane having a plurality of perforations and, within the tubular elastomeric membrane, (b) an air pipe having a plurality of openings, the openings being larger and fewer than the perforations, and the tubular membrane having upper and lower ends that are sealed against an outer surface of the air pipe.

Floating, sub-surface discharge aerator
11642633 · 2023-05-09 · ·

A floating aerator that is highly efficient in oxygenating water and wastewater utilizes high-volume, low pressure air that is diffused into a sub-surface oxygen transfer chamber in which water and wastewater is oxygenated. An air lift is created in the oxygen transfer chamber through the discharge of air bubbles in the water column in the aerator. The aerator comprises a floating head having a concave lower surface, a main chamber or barrel that defines the oxygen transfer chamber, and an air diffuser that extends coaxially through the float head and barrel interconnects the float head to the barrel such that there is a discharge slot defined between the lower surface of the float head and the barrel. A ballast ring floats the aerator at the desire level such that a flow of air bubbles and oxygenated water or wastewater are discharged at a subsurface level.

DIFFUSER MEMBRANE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE

A diffuser membrane and a method for manufacturing the same are provided. In the method for manufacturing, a first material is heated and extruded to form a base layer and a second material is heated and extruded to form a coating layer. The base layer and coating layer may be extruded substantially simultaneously in a coextrusion process. Accordingly, the coating may be applied to the base layer in a manner that optimizes the bonding between the two layers and provides the ability to control the thickness of the coating layer. Alternatively, the base layer is formed initially and the coating layer is subsequently formed thereover. The first and second materials have differing properties. The first material may comprise polyurethane and the second material may comprise polyurethane and PTFE.

A gassing device for the intermittent introduction of oxygen-containing gas or air into the waste water of a sewage treatment plant includes at least one membrane and a support body supporting the membrane and having gas-inlet openings. The membrane comprises a support membrane and a gassing membrane, wherein through-openings are arranged in the support membrane and continuous perforation slits are arranged in the gassing membrane and connected to the through-openings of the support membrane, or project into same, or are arranged inside the through-openings. The gassing membrane has a greater elasticity and is softer than the support membrane. The width of the through-openings of the support membrane decrease from the outer side and the gassing membrane projects partially or completely into the through-openings of the support membrane, and has a corresponding negative contour in relation to the through-openings of the support membrane.
