Countercurrent contacting devices and method of manufacture
The contacting device for countercurrent contacting of fluid streams and having a first pair of intersecting grids of spaced-apart and parallel deflector blades and a second pair of intersecting grids of spaced-apart and parallel deflector blades. The deflector blades in each one of the grids are interleaved with the deflector blades in the paired intersecting grid and may have uncut side portions that join them together along a transverse strip where the deflector blades cross each other or adjacent opposed ends of the deflector blades and cut side portions that extend from the uncut side portions to the ends of the deflector blades. At least some of the deflector blades have directional tabs and associated openings to allow portions of the fluid streams to pass through the deflector blades to facilitate mixing of the fluid streams.

VOLKOV CAVITATIONAL AERATOR
Proposed is a device for aerating a liquid. The device includes a housing having a liquid inlet channel, an air inlet channel and an outlet channel for a mixture of liquid and air. Mounted in the housing is a conical nozzle containing a swirler for feeding in liquid under pressure, the swirler having helical grooves on its outer surface. Mounted in the region where a conical jet of liquid exits an opening in the conical portion of the nozzle is a baffle with which the flow of liquid collides, resulting in cavitation, wherein air enters into the inner region of the jet of liquid via a channel in the baffle and through an opening in the baffle.
High-flow, high-pressure inline saturator system and method thereof
There is provided an inline saturator system and method for gas exchange with an aqueous-phase liquid. The system includes a pressure vessel, configured to receive a first liquid and a first gas from external sources and to discharge a second liquid and a second gas from the pressure vessel, and a gas infusion device situated within the pressure vessel. The gas infusion device is configured to receive the first liquid and first gas, to facilitate gas exchange therebetween, producing the second liquid and the second gas, and to discharge the second liquid and second gas into the pressure vessel. The system further includes a recirculation system configured to direct a portion of liquid within the pressure vessel back into the saturator device, where injection of the redirected liquid into the gas infusion device forces the first liquid into the gas infusion device for the gas exchange.
Tray assembly for gas/liquid contact tower
A tray assembly for improved gas/liquid contact in a chemical process tower includes a tray deck and a downcomer. A mixer is provided in the top of the downcomer and a distributor is attached to a floor of the downcomer. The mixer includes at least one mixing baffle parallel to an outlet weir on the tray. The distributor includes a plurality of spaced apart flow directing plates extending downwardly toward and spaced apart from the floor of the downcomer. In combination, the mixer and distributor effect even liquid flow across the surface of a subjacent tray deck.
FLUID DISTRIBUTION DEVICE FOR A GAS-LIQUID CONTACTOR, GAS-LIQUID CONTACTOR AND METHOD FOR ADDING A GAS TO A LIQUID
A fluid distribution device for a gas-liquid contactor the device having a first side, a second side and a plurality of through-holes extending from the first side to the second side, through which holes a first fluid can flow. The fluid distribution device further having an interior, which is delimited by the first side and the second side and which is sealed in a fluid-tight manner in relation to the through-holes, a plurality of openings, which connect the interior to the second side, and a fluid connection, through which a second fluid can be introduced into or evacuated from the interior. A gas-liquid contactor having a fluid distribution device of this type and to a method for adding a gas to a liquid is also disclosed.
Co-current and Counter Contactor for Immiscible Fluids
A multi-directional contactor apparatus configured to utilize co-current and counter current flow to contact a first fluid and a second fluid, wherein the second fluid is more dense than the first fluid. The contactor comprises a chamber partially divided by a vertically extending weir, a first inlet port permitting the first fluid to enter the chamber, a second inlet port positioned above the first inlet port and permitting the second fluid to enter the chamber. Countercurrent and co-current contact of the first and second liquids occurs on one side of the weir. The weir separates the co-current contacted second fluid stream from the countercurrent contacted second fluid stream and allows the separated streams to be released from the chamber. The co-current and countercurrent contacted first fluid is released from an upper portion of the tank.
