VESSEL, SYSTEM, AND ASSOCIATED METHOD FOR PRODUCT CONCENTRATION
20230211292 · 2023-07-06 · ·

Vessel configured to facilitate concentration of a product in a solution. The vessel may include outlet ports to deliver the solution to a processing system (such as a filtration system), and inlet ports. The inlet ports may be at progressively lower levels for return of fluid thereto reduced in volume as a result of filtration thereof. A smaller volume sump may be provided below a main tank of the vessel to facilitate concentration of the solution. The sump may include ridges facilitating collection of the product of interest from the solution, and/or reinforcing the sump walls, and optionally forming a vortex breaker. A spray ball may be provided to spray materials, such as buffer solution, into the vessel. The spray ball may direct materials to facilitate retrieval of product from the vessel. One or more components of the vessel may be advantageously formed of disposable material for single use thereof.

Pivot arm systems for mixing in bioreactors

A system for growing algae includes a pivot arm pivotally coupled to a pivot connection positioned in a pond containing water and algae, and a mixing device coupled to the pivot arm and extending into the pond to mix the water and the algae as the pivot arm rotates.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REDUCTION OF AIR INGESTION DURING MIXING
20170291154 · 2017-10-12 ·

A mixing tank is disclosed for reducing ingestion across an interface. The tank may include a first zone including most of the volume of the tank; a second zone including the interface; a source of mixing energy configured to provide a first bulk energy dissipation rate in the first zone; a divider located between said first zone and said second zone inhibiting transfer of said mixing energy from said first zone to said second zone to preserve in said second zone a bulk power dissipation level less than a said first bulk power dissipation level; and a mass transport passageway between said first zone and said second zone for preserving a uniformity between the first and second zones. A method is disclosed for manufacturing a mixing tank and for retrofitting and existing mixing tank and for managing mixing to prevent air ingestion.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DEVELOPING MIXING PROTOCOLS

A method of developing a predictive model may include identifying mixing protocol parameters for the predictive model, identifying an evaluation criterion for the predictive model, selecting test values for the mixing protocol parameters, identifying a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation required to be performed in order to generate the evaluation criteria, conducting the CFD simulation for each combination of test values, thereby generating evaluation criteria corresponding to each combination of test values, generating a domain of potential predictive models relating the mixing protocol parameters to the evaluation criterion, identifying a pool of candidate predictive models from the domain of potential predictive models, and ranking the pool of candidate predictive models.

HELICAL BEATER MIXER

The unique shape of the helical beater described herein not only achieves higher mixing performance but also power efficiency. By using high strength plastics instead of metal, the improved helical beater design described herein will lower or fix material and manufacturing costs and will provide a better method of controlling the geometry of the beater body.
