Method of chemically modifying plastic surfaces

Disclosed herein are finished products, methods, compositions and kits for derivatizing plastic (e.g., “polymer”) surfaces in a manner that renders the surfaces appropriate for various downstream applications. For example, flow cells incorporating modified plastic surfaces provide greatly enhanced stability for retention of attached chemical species such as polypeptides and nucleic acids.

FILM AND WATER STOPPING TAPE

The present invention relates to the isolation and amplification of odors so that the underlying odorous material might be located. The present invention utilizes a triple layer odor absorbent sampling media, solvents, and a heat source to isolate and amplify the odors. Once the source of the odor is located, the odorous material can then be cleaned.

GAS SEPARATION METHOD AND ZEOLITE MEMBRANE

A gas separation method includes supplying a mixed gas to a zeolite membrane complex and permeating a high permeability gas through the zeolite membrane complex to separate the high permeability gas from other gases. The mixed gas includes a high permeability gas and a trace gas that is lower in concentration than the high permeability gas. The molar concentration of a first gas included in the trace gas in the mixed gas is higher than the molar concentration of a second gas included in the trace gas in the mixed gas. The adsorption equilibrium constant of the first gas on the zeolite membrane is less than 60 times that of the high permeability gas. The adsorption equilibrium constant of the second gas on the zeolite membrane is 400 times or more that of the high permeability gas.

Mesoporous Poly (Aryl Ether Ketone) Hollow Fiber Membranes And Use Thereof In Mass Transfer Processes

A process for the efficient transfer of molecules between phases employing mesoporous poly (aryl ether ketone) hollow fiber membranes is provided. The method addresses the controlled transfer of reactants into and removal of reaction products from a reaction media and the removal and separation of target molecules from process streams by membrane-assisted liquid-liquid extraction. A number of possible modes of liquid-liquid extraction are possible according to the invention by utilizing porous poly (aryl ether ketone) hollow fiber membranes of Janus-like structure that exhibit a combination of hydrophilic and hydrophobic surface characteristics. The method of the present invention can address the continuous manufacture of chemicals in membrane reactors and is useful for a broad range of separation applications, including separation and recovery of active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Sorbent material sheets provide for enhanced performance in vapor adsorbing applications over conventional canisters and other emissions control equipment. The sorbent material sheets can be formed as part of a small, lightweight canister, or can be integrated into a fuel tank. The sorbent material sheets can also be used as part of an onboard refueling vapor recovery system to control volatile organic compound emissions from fuel tanks of gasoline vehicles, such as automobiles.
