This flow reactor is provided with two flow paths, a reaction flow path and a second flow path, in a space formed between an inner cylinder and an outer cylinder that are concentric. A spiral heat transmission body is disposed between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder, and the spiral heat transmission body has a substantially triangular cross-sectional shape in an axial cross-sectional view. The spiral heat transmission body partitions the space into the reaction flow path and the second flow path, and heat is exchanged via the spiral heat transmission body between a reaction fluid F1 flowing through the reaction flow path and a heat medium F2 flowing through the second flow path.
Metal supported powder catalyst matrix and processes for multiphase chemical reactions
A catalytic membrane composite that includes porous supported catalyst particles durably enmeshed in a porous fibrillated polymer membrane is provided. The porous fibrillated polymer membrane may be manipulated to take the form of a tube, disc, or diced tape and used in multiphase reaction systems. The supported catalyst particles are composed of at least one finely divided metal catalyst dispersed on a porous support substrate. High catalytic activity is gained by the effective fine dispersion of the finely divided metal catalyst such that the metal catalyst covers the support substrate and/or is interspersed in the pores of the support substrate. In some embodiments, the catalytic membrane composite may be introduced to a stirred tank autoclave reactor system, a continuous flow reactor system, or a Parr Shaker reaction system and used to effect the catalytic reaction.
Heat Transfer in a Polymerization Reactor

The Biot number is maintained at or below about 3.0 within the loop reactor during the polymerizing process. The slurry in the loop reactor forms a slurry film having a film coefficient along an inner surface of the reactor wall, and the film coefficient is less than about 500 BTU.Math.hr.sup.−1.Math.ft.sup.−2.Math.° F..sup.−1.

FLOW REACTOR
A flow reactor is structured to increase the overall heat transfer coefficient, which represents the efficiency of heat exchange with respect to a reactive fluid to be treated. This flow reactor is provided with three flow passages, which are a first flow passage, a second flow passage, and a third flow passage which spirally circulate within a space formed between an inner tube and an outer tube. The flow passages are compartmented by an inner heat transfer body and an outer heat transfer bodies. The heat transfer bodies spirally circulate, have a screw-like cross-sectional shape in an axial cross-sectional view, and are assembled in a screw-like configuration. By changing the shapes of a male-thread portion and a female-thread portion, the flow passage area of the first flow passage is changed, the second flow passage and the third flow passage are spirally formed, and heat exchange and reaction take place through the heat transfer bodies.
METHOD OF CHEMICAL REACTION IN A HEAT EXCHANGER REACTOR
The present invention provides a highly effective method of continuous reactions in a heat exchanger reactor using a flexible turbulator (2). The flexible turbulator (2) present in the tube of the reactor assembly provides efficient mixing and reaction of the reactants in the reactor. The tube and shell assembly provides better heat transfer by transfer of heat through the temperature gradient across the tube (3) wall. The shell fluid (8) can be cold or hot as required depending on whether the reaction is exothermic or endothermic. The reactants are passed through the inlet (6) and allowed to mix and react in the tube (3), the mixing and reaction is facilitated by flexible turbulator and the final product is received through the outlet. The process can be repeated to achieve desired final product. Progress of the reaction is measured by thermal sensors present inside the reactor. The data is processed through a highly specialized computer software and output about progress of reaction is monitored.
