Pressure vessel with high-pressure window
The present invention relates to a pressure vessel (1) having a pressure vessel wall (1a) which completely surrounds a reaction chamber (2) as a pressure space for the initiation and/or promotion of chemical and/or physical pressure reactions of a sample (P) to be heated which is accommodated in the reaction chamber (2), wherein the pressure vessel wall (1a) has an infrared-permeable high-pressure window (30) which extends away outward in a direction from the reaction chamber (2) and which is supported in the pressure vessel wall (1a) with respect to a pressure in the reaction chamber (2), wherein the pressure vessel (1) furthermore has an infrared to temperature sensor (40) which is situated directly opposite the high-pressure window (30), in order to measure the temperature of a sample (P), accommodated in the reaction chamber (2), during a pressure reaction through the high-pressure window (30).
Apparatus and method for manufacturing particles
An apparatus and method for manufacturing solid particles based on inert gas evaporation. The method includes forming a continuous gaseous feed flow, and injecting the continuous gaseous feed flow through an inlet into a free-space region of a reactor chamber in the form of a feed jet flow, and forming at least one continuous jet flow of a cooling fluid and injecting the at least one jet flow of cooling fluid into the reaction chamber. The feed jet flow is made by passing the feed flow at a pressure above the reactor chamber pressure in the range from 0.01.Math.10.sup.5 to 20.Math.10.sup.5 Pa through an injection nozzle. The jet flow of cooling fluid is made by passing the cooling fluid through an injection nozzle which directs the jet flow of cooling fluid such that it intersects the feed jet flow with an intersection angle between 30 and 150°.
COMPACT AND SELECTIVE REACTION CHAMBER
An embodiment of a reaction chamber is described that comprises a block of a material comprising a heat source positioned in a central location and a continuous channel comprising an inlet positioned at a first peripheral area of the block and an outlet positioned at a second peripheral area of the block, wherein the channel comprises a serpentine path from the inlet past the centrally located heat source to the outlet.
HYDROGEN STORAGE DEVICE AND METHOD OF PRODUCTING A HYDROGEN STORAGE DEVICE
A hydrogen storage device is described. The hydrogen storage device comprises a heater/cooler module (6) and a pressure containment vessel (1) defining an interior volume and having within it: a thermally conducting network (4) having a face in thermal contact with the heater/cooler module (6), the shape of the thermally conducting network (4) being a fractal geometry in two or three dimensions; optionally a metal foam in thermal contact with the thermally conducting network (4); and a hydrogen storage material (5) in thermal contact with the thermally conducting network (4).
THERMOPHORETIC CONCENTRATION OF REACTANTS FOR REACTION ACCELERATION
The present disclosure discusses a device and method for improving the reaction rate of enzymatic modification of biopolymers. A thermophoretic device is used to increase the rate of enzymatic reactions with biopolymers by creating a temperature gradient using a heating element and a cooling element. The use of a temperature gradient within a cavity in the thermophoretic device concentrates the reacts along an interior surface of the device, increasing the reaction rate.
Synthesis apparatus and method
Apparatus for biochemical synthesis having a reaction vessel, a temperature control device for the reaction vessel, a plurality of reservoirs for reaction components, and supply/withdrawal systems, e.g. reciprocating syringe pumps and switchable valves. Agitation of a reaction mixture is effected by withdrawing a part of the mixture from the reaction vessel and returning it thereto.
Hydrogen storage device and method of producing a hydrogen storage device
A hydrogen storage device is described. The hydrogen storage device comprises a heater/cooler module (6) and a pressure containment vessel (1) defining an interior volume and having within it: a thermally conducting network (4) having a face in thermal contact with the heater/cooler module (6), the shape of the thermally conducting network (4) being a fractal geometry in two or three dimensions; optionally a metal foam in thermal contact with the thermally conducting network (4); and a hydrogen storage material (5) in thermal contact with the thermally conducting network (4).
Fluid processing apparatus and processing method
A fluid is processed between processing surfaces capable of approaching to and separating from each other, at least one of which rotates relative to the other. A first fluid is introduced between processing surfaces, by using a micropump effect acting with a depression arranged on the processing surfaces from the center of the rotating processing surfaces. A second fluid, independent of this introduced fluid, is introduced from another fluid path that is provided with an opening leading to the processing surfaces, whereby the processing is done by mixing and stirring between the processing members.
Chemical reaction by combination of gas-phase and wet-chemical methods
The invention provides a new apparatus (20) and method for producing entirely new types of nanoparticles exhibiting novel properties. The apparatus comprises a vacuum chamber (22) containing a gas and feed means (1) for feeding a liquid jet (26) into the chamber and through the gas. The invention extends to the new types of nanoparticles per se, and to uses of such nanoparticles in various biomedical applications, such as in therapy and diagnosis, as well as in opto-electronics.
