Fe-N-C Catalysts Synthesized by Non-Contact Pyrolysis of Gas Phase Iron
Me-N—C catalysts, wherein Me can include a transition metal, Mn, Fe, Co, or a combination of metals with Me-INU moieties located at the exterior surface of the Me-N—C catalysts are produced by a chemical vapor deposition synthesis. The synthesis methods can utilize non-solid-contact pyrolysis wherein a metal salt can be vaporized. Gaseous metal from the vaporized metal salt can displace a metal M from the N—C zeolitic imidazolate framework. The non-solid-contact pyrolysis does not mix solid iron precursors (e.g., Me=Mn, Fe, or Co) with the solid N—C zeolitic imidazolate framework precursors during or before the synthesis, which improves the process compared to conventional methods.
PHOTOCATALYTICALLY ACTIVE PARTICULATE MATERIAL BASED ON ZNS, METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION AND USE THEREOF
A photocatalytically active particulate material includes a particle core of ZnS, particles of a nanoscale metal selected from Au, Ag, Pt, Pd, Cu or an alloy thereof loaded on the particle core, and a layer of Al2O3, SiO2, TiO2 or mixtures thereof on the loaded particle core.
ARRANGEMENT OF A LASER RADIATION FOR CATALYSIS IN COMPLEXATION REACTIONS
The present invention addresses to an adaptation of a laser system in a reactor for the application of laser radiation, promoting the thermal catalysis of the complexation reactions of barium sulfate (BaSO.sub.4), strontium sulfate (SrSO.sub.4) and CaCO.sub.3 with application in fields of drilling and completion of wells, as well as lifting and draining systems; in this case, aiming at the removal of scale at an appropriate temperature for the complexation and consequent dissolution of the scale salt in subsea equipment of the production systems.

Embodiments of the present invention include a filter element for decomposing contaminants including a substrate, and a photocatalytic composition comprising at least a photocatalyst and a co-catalyst. The embodiments of the present invention also includes a system for decomposing contaminants including a substrate, and a photocatalytic composition comprising at least a photocatalyst and a co-catalyst; and a method using the system.
Kirigami derived metal catalysts
A high surface area to mass catalyst is formed by a method that includes a Kirigami mapped cutting of a flat three metal laminate composite formed on a deposition support. Kirigami derived catalyst has a shape that provides a high surface to mass ratio and promotes the flow of a fluid containing a reagent for a reaction catalyzed by the exterior metal catalyst films of the three metal laminate composite. Structural integrity of the Kirigami derived catalyst results from a support metal film residing between two metal catalyst films. The shaping to the Kirigami derived structure involves cutting the flat three metal laminate composite to that of a Kirigami map, imposing stress on the cut structure to force a non-planar deformation, and delaminating the Kirigami derived catalyst from the deposition support.
Hydrogen peroxide selective catalysts, methods of using thereof, and methods of making thereof
Catalysts for selective production of hydrogen peroxide and methods of making and using thereof have been developed. The catalysts include an alloyed or doped metal oxide which permits tuning of the catalytic properties of the catalysts for selection of a desired pathway to a product, such as hydrogen peroxide. The catalysts may be incorporated into electrochemical or photochemical devices.
ELECTROCATALYSTS DOPED WITH CATALYTIC ACTIVITY NANOPARTICLES
The PEO grown metal-oxide coated electrocatalyst replaces the current carbon supported catalyst with a more robust and effective metal-oxide scaffold, which increases the lifetime and efficiency of fuel cells and electrolyzers. Using a novel method in catalyst ion and nanoparticle application to the electrocatalyst scaffold, we can increase the lifetime by reducing particle dissolution, resulting in longer acceptable efficiencies. The process also has lower infrastructure and upkeep costs to those currently employed, so savings can be passed on to the consumer.
SYNTHESIS OF PLASMA GENERATING - CHEMICAL LOOPING CATALYSTS
Disclosed is the synthesis of novel supported metal catalytic materials for electromagnetic radiation absorption and chemical catalysis especially in the presence of plasma used in the conversion of nitrogen from air and hydrogen from water to useful products such as nitric acid, hydrogen, ammonia and fertilizers. These materials can also generate plasma when subjected to microwave irradiation thus form the basis of catalytic plasma reactors. They can be used in chemical looping reactions because plasma generation under microwave irradiation in air results in the reduction of catalyst oxides and oxidation of nitrogen.
HIGH-FILTRATION EFFICIENCY WALL-FLOW FILTER
The invention relates to a method for producing a wall-flow filter for removing fine particulate solids from gases, and to the use thereof for cleaning exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine. The invention also relates to a correspondingly produced exhaust-gas filter having a high filtration efficiency.
Methods for fabricating carbon nanotube arrays with a high structural factor
A method of fabricating a carbon nanotube (“CNT”) array includes providing a substrate with a CNT catalyst disposed on a surface of the substrate, heating the CNT catalyst to an annealing temperature, exposing the CNT catalyst to a CNT precursor for an exposure period to pre-load the CNT catalyst, and exposing the pre-loaded CNT catalyst to a carbon source for a growth period to form the CNT array. The formed CNT array comprises a plurality of CNT bundles that are aligned with one another in an alignment direction. At least one of the plurality of bundles comprises an average structural factor of 1.5 or less along an entirety of the length thereof.
