A separation apparatus and method for separating ore is provided. The separation apparatus (10) includes a separation chamber (12) and is configured to be utilised with a fluid pulsing mechanism (32) for operatively pulsating a fluid through ore deposited in the chamber resulting in the migration of generally lighter ore particles toward an upper region (25) of the chamber and for generally heavier particles to migrate toward a bottom region (14) of the chamber (12). The ore is deposited by means of a chute (38) in the bottom region (14) of the chamber (12) and the lighter ore particles may then be extracted from the chamber through a first chamber outlet (24) while the heavier particles may be extracted through a second chamber outlet (28).

The system comprises a stratification machine with a stratification or sorting chamber for holding the combination of liquid and granular matter, which stratification or sorting chamber has one or more side walls. The stratification machine also holds a movable plate arranged within the stratification or sorting chamber, where the moveable plate has sieve openings smaller than the minimum grain size of the granular matter to be treated to thereby maintain the granular matter above or on top of the movable plate. The stratification machine further holds a drive system for moving the movable plate in vertical upwards and downwards movements within the stratification or sorting chamber to thereby exercise or treat the granular matter within the liquid. There is also provided a method for treating the combination of a liquid and granular matter. The granular matter may include or consist of polymer granular matter.

The separation of materials according to their density is carried out in a fluid bath by floating ground light materials and carrying same over an overflow, as well as depositing ground heavier materials on a horizontal sieve base within the fluid bath. In order to improve the floating of the lighter materials, a displacement body is cyclically sunk into the fluid bath. The fluid bath is supplied with additional fluid in a synchronous manner with the cyclical movement of the displacement body. A control device for supplying the fluid can also be connected to pressure sensors or the drive of the displacement body.

The separation of materials according to their density is carried out in a fluid bath by floating ground light materials and carrying same over an overflow, as well as depositing ground heavier materials on a horizontal sieve base within the fluid bath. In order to improve the floating of the lighter materials, a displacement body is cyclically sunk into the fluid bath. A jig concentrator apparatus has a jigging bed having a plurality of holes, a flow control valve associated with the jigging bed to control a flow of fluid, a pulsation valve connected to the flow control valve for controlling a pulsation of water or media, wherein the valve is housed under the bed, a water or fluid inlet attached to the water pulsation valve for input of water in the apparatus, and a pressured air buffer mounted on the water inlet to buffer and store air in the jig concentrator.

A jig concentrator apparatus has a jigging bed having a plurality of holes, a flow control valve associated with the jigging bed to control a flow of fluid, a pulsation valve connected to the flow control valve for controlling a pulsation of water or media, wherein the valve is housed under the bed, a water or fluid inlet attached to the water pulsation valve for input of water in the apparatus, and a pressured air buffer mounted on the water inlet to buffer and store air in the jig concentrator.
