BATCH BIOPROCESSING CENTRIFUGE ROTOR
A rotor for use in a centrifuge, and adapters for coupling one or more processing containers to the rotor. The rotor includes a rotor body having a plurality of receptacles each configured to receive an adapter. Each adapter includes an outer surface configured to interface with one of the receptacles, and one or more cavities each configured to accept a processing container. The rotor may also include a rotor liner positioned between the adapters and the rotor body. The rotor liner engages the receptacles of the rotor body, and provides a plurality of receptacles that receive the adapters, thereby providing an interface between the adapters and the receptacles of the rotor body.
ADAPTER FOR TUBES IN A FIXED ANGLE ROTOR
A rotor assembly that includes a fixed-angle rotor with a plurality of rotor wells that each have a central axis in a fixed angular relationship relative to a rotational axis of the rotor to define a rotor well angle for each rotor well, and further includes an adapter for use with one of the rotor wells. The adapter includes a body with a circular cross-sectional shape that extends between a first end and a second end, and a sample tube cavity formed in the body. The cavity extends from an opening at the first end of the body to a closed base at the second end of the body and includes a longitudinal axis. When the adapter is positioned within the rotor well, the longitudinal axis of the cavity has an angular relationship relative to the rotational axis of the rotor that is different compared to the rotor well angle.
Spinning Top Centrifuge
This invention concerns a centrifugal device that houses adapters for commercial or scientific samples (or tubes containing such samples) and is manually operated. In preferred embodiments, the adapter is housed in a modern version of a spinning top that is powered by repetitive pumping motion using a helical rod and clutch mechanism.
CENTRIFUGE CONTAINER ADAPTER AND RELATED ARTICLES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
The present disclosure generally provides centrifuge container adapters configured to be used in a centrifuge, e.g., a bench-top centrifuge, and centrifuge systems and methods incorporating the centrifuge container adapters. The centrifuge container adapter may receive a centrifuge container, comprising a sample, the sample, in turn, comprising a fluid. During a centrifuging operation, according to some embodiments, the centrifuge container adapter and centrifuge container may be placed in a rotor cavity in the centrifuge. As a rotor of the centrifuge spins, the fluid may exit the sample within the centrifuge container and be collected in a void space of the centrifuge container adapter. In some embodiments, measurements of the fluid in the centrifuge container adapter may be used to determine characteristics or properties of the sample.
Method for processing a fluid and fluid processing device
The present invention relates to improved methods for processing fluids and to a fluid processing device (1) for use in a centrifuge comprising: (a) a first holder (14) form-fit to the shape of a first tube (18) for holding said first tube (18) whereby said first tube (18) has a first cross section (A1); and (b) a second holder (22) form-fit to the shape of a second tube (26) for holding said second tube (26) whereby said second tube (26) has a second cross section (A2) that is different from said first cross section (A1). With the fluid processing devices and the methods according to the invention, it is possible to simplify the centrifugal processing steps for a given fluid processing sequence and to automate them.
Blood bag system and cassette
A blood bag system includes a BC pooling bag for centrifugation of a buffy coat, a filter for removing white blood cells from a supernatant liquid transferred from the BC pooling bag, a platelet preserving bag for reserving the supernatant liquid that has passed through the filter, a first tube connecting the BC pooling bag and an inlet of the filter, a second tube connecting the platelet preserving bag and an outlet of the filter, and a cassette to be fixed in the centrifugation and separation apparatus. The first tube and the second tube are disposed within the cassette. The cassette includes a first clamp section for closing and opening the first tube, and a second clamp section for closing and opening the second tube.
ISOLATION TUBE
A separation container for extracting a portion of a sample for use or testing and method for preparing samples for downstream use or testing are provided. The separation container may include a body defining an internal chamber. The body may define an opening, and the body may be configured to receive the sample within the internal chamber. The separation container may further include a seal disposed across the opening, such that the seal may be configured to seal the opening of the body, and a plunger movably disposed at least partially inside the internal chamber. The plunger may be configured to be actuated to open the seal and express the portion of the sample.
Centrifuge insert
A centrifuge insert is provided which is not only suited for one type of sample container or sample carrier but for at least two geometrically different elements from the group consisting of sample container and sample carrier. This achieves that the same centrifuge insert can be used for different sample containers or sample carriers. This provides space savings, in particular in the lab. Furthermore acquisition cost is reduced, and handling is accelerated by reducing manual complexity which increases lab through put.
Swinging bucket centrifuge with a bucket mounted by a clevis pin held in a clevis
A swinging bucket centrifuge (1) comprises a rotor (10) with at least one mounting end and at least one bucket (20) mounted to the at least one mounting end of the rotor (10). Therein, the at least one bucket (20) is mounted to the at least one mounting end of the rotor (10) by at least one clevis pin (30) held in a clevis (13) so that the bucket (20) is pivotable about the clevis pin (30).
Centrifuge with sample bucket having grooves and swing rotor for the same
A centrifuge and a rotor thereof are provided. The centrifuge performs centrifugation in a state where the sample container is swung by rotation and seated in a cutout part of a rotor body. The sample container includes a bucket accommodating a container filled with a sample, and a lid for sealing the bucket and having a rotation shaft. Grooves extending in the longitudinal direction are formed on the outer peripheral surface of the bucket on the bottom side with respect to a seating surface of the bucket. The grooves are arranged at equal intervals in the circumferential direction. Formation of the grooves can prevent increasing the weight of the bucket and realize a highly rigid sample container that can withstand deformation.
