Method and application group for applying a fluid onto a substrate

A fluid for application onto a substrate is provided in a cavity of a hollow cylindrical application roller that has porous roller wall. Before reaching the transfer point to the substrate, fluid is regionally selectively pushed back away from the outer shell surface of the application roller, into the porous roller wall, by a knockback pressure, in order to regionally selectively produce the effect that, at the transfer point, fluid is located at the outer shell surface of the application roller or no fluid is located at the outer shell surface of the application roller. A regionally selective application of fluid onto a substrate may thus be efficiently produced.

A method for applying a product by roller on a surface of a substrate (112) transported horizontally with respect to an application head (111, 111′) is discloses. The method includes moving the application head (111, 111′) immediately from a lowered position of the application head (111, 111′), wherein the application roller (122, 122′) applies the product in a predetermined position of the surface of the substrate, to a raised position of the application head (111, 111′), wherein the application roller (122, 122′) does not apply product; or vice versa. An application system using the method for applying a product by roller is also disclosed.

Printing apparatus, liquid absorbing apparatus, and printing method

A printing apparatus includes an image forming unit that forms an ink image, a transfer unit that transfers the ink image formed on a transfer member to a print medium in a transfer operation, and a liquid absorbing member that absorbs a liquid component from the ink image before the transfer operation. A recovery unit recovers absorption performance of the liquid absorbing member by applying a moisturizing liquid to the liquid absorbing member. A first estimation unit estimates, based on print data, an ink discharge amount of ink to form the ink image, and a second estimation unit estimates a liquid amount of the liquid component to be absorbed by the liquid absorbing member from the estimated ink discharge amount. In addition, a control unit controls an application amount of the moisturizing liquid by the recovery unit based on a result of estimation by the second estimation unit.

An autonomous machine for the application of paint to a targeted application area. The autonomous machine operates with complete autonomy to paint a room without guidance or intervention. The autonomous machine includes a propulsion system to generate movement along a surface, a sensor system that generate signals representative of conditions during the painting to a targeted application area, and a control system that is in communication with the propulsion system and applicator system. In operation the autonomous machine automatically moves to and along walls that need to be painted. The autonomous machine detects the boundaries of the walls. A sensor head on the autonomous machine scans the walls, detecting and accommodating for any obstacles such as windows and windows trim present on the walls. Pressurized paint is then moved from a reservoir in the autonomous machine to the applicator and the applicator begins applying paint to the targeted application area.
