Embodiments of the invention include apparatus and methods for coating drug coated medical devices. In an embodiment, the invention includes a coating apparatus including a coating application unit. The coating application unit can include a fluid applicator having a lengthwise axis and a width. The fluid applicator can include a tip comprising a first face across the width of the fluid applicator. The first face of the fluid applicator can be oriented at an angle of from about 15 to about 75 degrees with respect to the lengthwise axis of the fluid applicator. The fluid applicator can define a second face intersecting the first face. The coating apparatus can further include a rotation mechanism and an axial motion mechanism. Other embodiments are also included herein.

A retention assembly (10) for a hollow tubular decorating roller (202) comprising a fixed mount member (12) that is securable in use to a roller frame (26). The fixed mount member (12) includes a first primary support formation (16) and a first retention formation (18) that extends radially beyond the first primary support formation (16). The retention assembly (10) also includes a separable mount member (14) that is selectively couplable with the fixed mount member (12). The separable mount member (14) includes a second primary support formation (20) and a second retention formation (22) that extends radially beyond the second primary support formation (20). The first and second primary support formations (16, 20) are received, in use, by a respective end (204a, 204b) of a hollow tubular decorating roller (202). The first and second retention formations (18, 22) cooperate with one another while the separable mount member (14) is coupled with the fixed mount member (12) to in use retain a hollow tubular decorating roller (202) therebetween.

A curtain coating device includes a curtain coating member, a conveyance unit, a separation member, and a base material supporting member. The curtain coating member creates a curtain-like film of coating liquid and makes the curtain-like film flow down. The conveyance unit conveys a base material to which the curtain-like film is to be applied. The separation member includes a receiving portion inclined downward from inside to outside in a width direction of the curtain-like film, and separates an end portion of the curtain-like film having flowed down by receiving the end portion with the receiving portion above the base material. The base material supporting member is disposed inside in the width direction of the curtain-like film than the receiving portion of the separation member, and supports the base material on an upper side flat portion while the base material is being conveyed.

A retention assembly (10) for a hollow tubular decorating roller (202) comprising a fixed mount member (12) that is securable in use to a roller frame (26). The fixed mount member (12) includes a first primary support formation (16) and a first retention formation (18) that extends radially beyond the first primary support formation (16). The retention assembly (10) also includes a separable mount member (14) that is selectively couplable with the fixed mount member (12). The separable mount member (14) includes a second primary support formation (20) and a second retention formation (22) that extends radially beyond the second primary support formation (20). The first and second primary support formations (16, 20) are received, in use, by a respective end (204a, 204b) of a hollow tubular decorating roller (202). The first and second retention formations (18, 22) cooperate with one another while the separable mount member (14) is coupled with the fixed mount member (12) to in use retain a hollow tubular decorating roller (202) therebetween.

Embodiments of the invention include apparatus and methods for coating drug coated medical devices. In an embodiment, the invention includes a coating apparatus including a coating application unit. The coating application unit can include a fluid applicator having a lengthwise axis and a width. The fluid applicator can include a tip comprising a first face across the width of the fluid applicator. A roller cover and associated pair of cams attachable to opposite ends of the roller cover. Each of the cams has an outer diameter extending radially outwardly beyond an outer diameter of the roller cover a predetermined distance for maintaining the outer diameter of the roller cover a corresponding distance from the surface being coated during rotational movement of the roller cover over the surface to act as a thickness gauge for the coating being applied to the surface.

A curtain coating device includes a curtain coating member, a conveyance unit, a separation member, and a base material supporting member. The curtain coating member creates a curtain-like film of coating liquid and makes the curtain-like film flow down. The conveyance unit conveys a base material to which the curtain-like film is to be applied. The separation member includes a receiving portion inclined downward from inside to outside in a width direction of the curtain-like film, and separates an end portion of the curtain-like film having flowed down by receiving the end portion with the receiving portion above the base material. The base material supporting member is disposed inside in the width direction of the curtain-like film than the receiving portion of the separation member, and supports the base material on an upper side flat portion while the base material is being conveyed.

A paint roller bumper apparatus for a paint roller device having a curved rod is disclosed. The bumper apparatus includes an end cap for engaging a ceiling and a stem having the end cap on a first end a weighted bottom at a second end for keeping the bumper substantially perpendicular to the ceiling and substantially parallel to a wall. The bumper is rotationally attached to the rod using an arbor insertable into a receiving tube of a clip that can be fixedly attached to the rod.
