METHOD AND COATING SYSTEM FOR COATING CAVITY WALLS
The invention relates to a method for coating cavity walls, in particular cylinder bores of engine blocks, In the method, a coating is applied to a cavity wall using a coating lance. In addition, a cavity diameter is measured using a measuring apparatus. According to the invention, the method is characterized in that at least a plurality of diameter values of a first cavity are measured at different heights of the first cavity using the measuring apparatus, and in that a coating of variable thickness is applied to a wall of the first or a second cavity using the coaling lance, the thickness of said coating of variable thickness being dependent on the determined diameter values. The invention additionally describes a corresponding coating system.
Method for producing a substrate, which is coated with an alkali metal, by means of a promoter layer, and a coated substrate
The present invention relates to a method for producing a substrate (2) which is coated with an alkali metal (1), in which method a promoter layer (3) which is composed of a material which reacts with the alkali metal (1) by at least partial chemical reduction of the promoter layer (3) is applied to a surface of the substrate (2) and a surface of the promoter layer (3) is acted on by an alkali metal (1) and then the alkali metal (1) is converted into the solid phase and a coating containing the alkali metal is formed.

Insulative coating processes for electromagnetic telemetry mandrels
A process for applying an insulative coating to a mandrel can be used in an electromagnetic telemetry antenna assembly. One process includes applying a bond coat to at least a portion of an outer radial surface of a mandrel; applying an electrical isolation layer to the bond coat; applying a first sealant layer to the electrical isolation layer; and heat treating the mandrel in an oven.

Coated retaining ring
A retaining ring for a polishing system is disclosed. The retaining ring has a process-resistant coating over a portion thereof. The process-resistant coating is a thin, smooth, conformal layer that is resistant to wear and chemical attack. The process-resistant coating is formed by a method that includes vapor deposition from a precursor gas mixture, which may deposit polyparaxyxylene from a gas mixture comprising paracyclophane. Adhesion of the process-resistant coating to the retaining ring may be enhanced by treating the surface of the ring prior to forming the coating. Resistance of the coating to the process may be further enhanced by treating the surface of the coating with an etching or deposition gas to impart texture.
Capacitive probe fabricating from spray deposition
A proximity sensor includes a lead supported on an outer surface of a case structure and a sensor wire that extends from the lead and through an opening in the case structure. The sensor is formed by applying alternating layers of electrically conductive and non-conductive materials in a non-cured state. A base non-conductive layer is applied to an inner surface of the case structure around the sensor wire in a non-cured state. Once cured, a conductive layer is deposited onto the base non-conductive layer and encapsulates the sensor wire. A cover non-conductive layer is then deposited over portions of the conductive layer to insulate the conductive layer. Portions of the non-conductive layer are then removed such that an area of the conductive layer is exposed to define a sensor area.

Method of coating a substrate
A method is provided for coating a substrate, in particular a fiber reinforced plastic component, a protective layer being applied, with preference by means of thermal spraying, to a non-cured resin film applied to a release film, and subsequently, after removal of the release film, the resin film being applied to the substrate and cured.
