Constant beam pattern array method

A method for providing a broadband constant beam pattern acoustic array includes providing an array of transducers in a known three dimensional axisymmetric spherical configuration with each transducer element having an associated signal. A user can specify a far field beam pattern for the array. Weightings are calculated for each transducer in the array as being proportional to the voltage that gives the beam pattern power level associated with the bearing for each transducer. Signal power levels for each transducer are modified in accordance with the weightings. The array can be operated for receiving and transmitting signals with a constant beam pattern over a broad range of frequencies.

The system includes a plurality of ultrasonic transducers, a photodetector, a camera, a control circuit, and a cell culture container that includes a cell culture media. The control circuit is communicatively coupled to the plurality of ultrasonic transducers, the temperature sensor, and the camera. The photodetector is used to determine a presence of a surface bubble on the cell culture media. The camera is used to determine a location of the surface bubble when the presence of the surface bubble is determined. The plurality of ultrasonic transducers is used to position an ultrasonic pulse at the location of the surface bubble and thereby reduce the presence of the surface bubble on the cell culture media when the location of the surface bubble is determined.

The base can be an ASIC wafer that includes integrated circuitry for controlling the driving and processing the sensed signals. The ultrasonic frequency generates air bubbles and causes cavitation of the air bubbles that directs a micro jet of air through the wash fluid and into articles being processed within the drum.
