A shaft assembly comprises a hollow shaft and at least one working component disposed therein. A method of forming the shaft assembly includes a step of providing at least one generally planar preform. The preform is then formed into a “U”-shaped partial cylinder. One or more working components may then be assembled and connected to an interior of the partial cylinder. The partial cylinder is then further formed into a hollow cylinder having a generally circular cross-sectional shape, thus surrounding the one or more working components to secure a position thereof in an interior of the hollow cylinder. The hollow cylinder may then be held stationary and a welding operation performed thereon to form the hollow shaft. Once the hollow shaft is welded, post process machining may then be performed thereon as desired to further finish the hollow shaft.

The method includes extruding a tube to include at least one reinforced region extending along a length of the tube. The tube has a first thickness in the at least one reinforced region and a second thickness in other regions of the tube. The first thickness is greater than the second thickness. The method further includes cutting a blank from the tube such that the blank includes at least a portion of the at least one reinforced region and forming the blank into a desired shape of the component.

Expandable mandrels are introduced into the open profile ends of the hollow profile component. The hollow profile component is calibrated or end-sized by applying force simultaneously on the outside and on the inside. The expandable mandrels are retracted, opening of the press tool, and removing of the hollow profile component.

The dust-collecting electrode assembling step includes: temporarily elastically deforming the dust-collecting electrode in the radial direction and inserting the same into the assembly hole of the frame body; and pressurizing end parts of both ends of the dust collecting electrode, which protrude out of a plate member when fitted into the assembly hole, in the axial direction such that the end parts are compressed against the surface of the plate member.
