A three blade fence post straightening device comprises a first row of at least three rollers and a second row of at least three rollers. An axis of rotation of each of the rollers in the first row may be substantially parallel to each other and an axis of rotation of each of the rollers in the second row may be substantially parallel to each other. A forming profile defined between outer surfaces of the respective rollers of each pair of rollers may substantially correspond to a cross section of a three blade fence post, with forming profiles of each pair of rollers being longitudinally aligned to form a substantially straight path through the straightening device. A drive means may be configured to drive each of the rollers in the first row and/or the second row.

In order to secure the position of the first roller group displaced in the closing direction by the infeed device, the straightening apparatus includes a backstop which blocks a backward movement of the first roller group against the closing direction. The backstop has a clamping roller which is received in a wedge gap.

An apparatus for treating metal wire by multiple reverse bending and associated methods for using the apparatus are disclosed. The first roller has a first roller diameter, is followed by N−1 intermediate rollers with intermediate roller diameters and ends with an exit roller with an exit roller diameter. The exit roller is larger than the first roller and any one roller in the sequence of rollers has a roller diameter that is not smaller than the preceding roller in the sequence. The progressively larger diameters impose a well-controlled, gradually decreasing curvature to the wire resulting in a cast controlled wire. By folding the wire path together, a compact arrangement is obtained accommodating the increasingly larger rollers. A method to operate the apparatus is also described that allows for an easy adjustment of the apparatus in function of wire thickness.
