PROCESS FOR MAKING AN EROSION AND WEAR RESISTANT SHOT CHAMBER FOR DIE CASTING APPLICATION
A process of forming an erosion, oxidation, and wear resistant shot chamber, either a gooseneck or a shot sleeve, is provided. The process utilizes a self-healing erosive wear resistant coating on a liner of refractory metal to serve as the working surfaces of a shot chamber. Such a shot chamber is expected to have an improved service life for die casting of corrosive metals and alloys, including hot chamber die casting of aluminum alloys. An improved hot dipping process using stirring in the motel metal bath is also disclosed.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a mold having both good adhesion resistance and smoothness, and a production method therefor. Provided is a mold made of a composite material comprising hard phases and metal phases characterized in that the mold has a reinforced layer made of hard phases for a working surface and the working surface satisfies the arithmetic average roughness Ra≤0.1 μm and skewness Rsk≤−0.01. Also provided is a production method for a mold made of a composite material comprising hard phases and metal phases characterized in having: a shaping step for working the surface of the mold made of said composite material and adjusting to Ra≤0.1 μm; and after the shaping step, a surface layer-modifying step for etching the surface of the mold adjusted to Ra≤0.1 μm and removing the metal phases near the surface.

Disclosed is a high-temperature alloy pressure casting mold for an impeller and a guide vane. The high-temperature alloy pressure casting mold comprises a casting main pipe, a lower casting pipe, and forming steel mold assemblies, wherein the plurality of forming steel mold assemblies surround the casting main pipe, the casting main pipe is provided with a pressure device, the bottom of the casting main pipe is connected to a casting gate at the bottom of each forming steel mold assembly by means of the lower casting pipe, and casting is carried out using pressure supplied by the main pipe. Further disclosed is a high-temperature alloy pressure casting process for an impeller and a guide vane using the casting mold.

A die-cast mold for die casting aluminum includes a first die having a first mold surface, a first multilayer coating disposed over the first mold surface, a second die having a second mold surface, and a second multilayer coating disposed over the second mold surface. The first multilayer coating includes a first base layer and the second multilayer coating includes a second base layer. The first die and the second die mate to form a mold cavity. Characteristically, the first base layer and the second base layer are each independently composed of a zirconium nitride or a zirconium carbide.

PROCESS FOR MAKING A COMPOSITE LINER FOR COLD CHAMBER DIE CASTING APPLICATION
A process of forming a low cost, erosion, oxidation, and wear resistant composite liner or insert that can be installed into a shot chamber in a die casting machine is provided. The process utilizes a self-healing erosive wear resistant coating on a liner of refractory metal to serve as the working surfaces of a shot chamber. The refractory liner is bonded to a low cost material so that the liner can be made extremely thin. Such a composite liner is expected to have an improved service life for die casting of corrosive metals and alloys.
