Spatial porosity and composition control in additive manufacturing
Disclosed are systems, devices, and methods for additive manufacturing that allow for control of composition and/or porosity of components being manufactured. More particularly, in exemplary embodiments, a secondary material can be used in conjunction with a primary feedstock material in a spatially controlled manner during an additive manufacturing process to control a composition of materials and/or porosity of a manufactured component. Systems, devices, and methods for additive manufacturing are also disclosed that allow for control of a pressure of an atmosphere surrounding a build surface during an additive manufacturing process. More particularly, a pressure of an atmosphere surrounding a build surface can be raised to a pressure greater than standard atmospheric pressure. Various features of the exemplary embodiments of the systems, devices, and methods disclosed can be used together to further control for composition and/or porosity and quality of a manufactured part.

Method for Producing a Sintered Part
A method for producing a sintered part, having at least the following steps: a) providing a sintered part, said sintered part having a first end face, a second end face arranged at a distance from the first end face in an axial direction, and a circumferential surface between the end faces; b) arranging the sintered part in a tool; c) applying a first pressure force, which acts on the end faces at least in the axial direction, to the sintered part by the tool; and d) applying a second pressure force, which acts on the circumferential surface at least in a radial direction, to the sintered part, wherein the sintered part is reshaped at least by the second pressure force, or mechanically processing the sintered part. Steps c) and d) are carried out at least partly simultaneously.

Joint implants having porous structures formed utilizing additive manufacturing and related systems and methods
A medical implant which comprises a porous lattice is fabricated with additive manufacturing techniques such as direct metal laser sintering. A CAD model of the porous lattice is created by defining a trimming volume and merging some lattice elements with adjacent solid substrate.
BURNER ELEMENT FABRICATION USING INJECTION MOULDING AND CONSEQUENT SINTERING
A method of fabricating a burner element for an abatement apparatus is disclosed. The method comprises: injection moulding a charge comprising metal particles and a flow compound into a mould defining the burner element to produce a moulded burner element; and sintering the moulded burner element. In this way, injection moulding is used to produce the burner element, which provides far more flexibility regarding the design and properties of the burner element and avoids the necessity of incorporating a perforated support into the burner element. This allows burner elements of more intricate design to be produced, as well as burner elements which are thinner than those produced using existing techniques, which increases the volume of a combustion chamber defined by that burner element for any external burner element size, which in turn increases the amount of effluent gas that can be treated for any burner size.
