CUTTING TOOL AND DISTANCE COMPENSATING ELEMENT FOR POSITIONING REGROUND CUTTING INSERTS IN A CUTTING TOOL
The invention relates to a distance compensating element for positioning reground cutting inserts in a cutting tool and to a cutting tool comprising such a distance compensating element. The cutting tool is provided with a cutting insert (16) and a tool holder (12), and the cutting insert (16) is releasably secured to the tool holder (12) in a cutting insert receiving area (14) by means of a clamping element (17) wherein the cutting insert receiving area (14) has a support surface (23) which substantially corresponds to the base shape of the cutting insert (16) and comprises at least one wall section (24) that extends vertically relative to the support surface (23) and is designed to align the cutting insert (16) in the cutting insert receiving area (14), and a blade (18, 19) of the cutting insert (16) protrudes freely. A distance compensating element (25) is arranged between the cutting insert (16) and the cutting insert receiving area (14) in order to position a reground cutting insert (16) in the cutting insert receiving area (14) in the correct position, said compensating element compensating for a removal of material when the cutting insert (16) is reground.
Parting blade and tool holder therefor
A tool holder including a tool shank and a tool head connected to the tool shank. The tool head comprising an insert seat or a blade pocket. Adjacent to at least a portion of a shank side surface there is a reinforcement portion connecting the shank side surface and the tool head.
CUTTING TOOL AND TOOL HOLDER HAVING SEPARATE REAR ABUTMENT AND WEDGED REAR STOPPER SURFACES
A cutting tool includes a holder and a cutting insert releasably clamped in the holder. The holder has a rear pocket surface which includes a pocket abutment surface and an adjacent pocket wedge surface. The cutting insert has at least one abutment surface and an adjacent wedge surface. When the cutting tool is assembled but not in use, the pocket abutment surface of the holder abuts the abutment surface of the cutting insert, and the wedge surface of the holder is facing and spaced apart from the wedge surface of the cutting insert. During cutting operations, the wedge surface of the insert may abut against the wedge surface of the holder.
CUTTING INSERT HAVING GROOVED TOP AND BOTTOM ABUTMENT SURFACES WITH INNER AND OUTER PAIRS OF WEDGE ANGLES, AND CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool used for turning operations is releasably secured to a tool holder. The cutting insert includes top and bottom insert surfaces, each surface including two pairs of insert wedge surfaces. The tool holder includes an insert pocket having a pocket top surface and a pocket bottom surface. When the cutting tool is assembled, only one of the two pairs of insert wedge surfaces of the insert top surface engages the pocket top surface, and only one of the two pairs of insert wedge surfaces of the insert bottom surface engage the pocket bottom surface.
PARTING BLADE AND TOOL HOLDER THEREFOR
A tool holder includes a tool shank and a tool head connected to the tool shank. The tool head has a rear surface. An insert seat or a blade pocket is partially formed on both the tool head and the tool shank, and extends rearwardly of the tool head's rear surface. Adjacent to at least a portion of a shank side surface there is a reinforcement portion connecting the shank side surface and the tool head.
Insert holder having transversely oriented insert receiving pocket with resilient upper jaw having outer flexibility groove and cutting tool
A cutting tool includes a cutting insert resiliently clamped in an insert holder. The insert holder has a holder longitudinal axis defining opposite forward to rearward directions, and a transversely oriented insert receiving pocket having a pocket longitudinal axis and a pocket front opening. The insert holder includes a forwardly located insert mounting portion that includes upper and lower jaws which together define the insert receiving pocket. The insert receiving pocket at the lower jaw includes a pocket lower clamping surface. The insert receiving pocket at the upper jaw includes a pocket upper clamping surface which faces mutually towards the pocket lower clamping surface. The insert receiving pocket at one of the upper and lower jaws includes a pocket stopper surface facing generally towards the pocket front opening. The upper jaw includes an outer flexibility groove recessed in the holder peripheral surface.
CUTTING TOOL WHICH IS ASSEMBLED AND READY FOR DELIVERY
A cutting tool that is assembled and ready for delivery has at least one actual dimension relating to a physical configuration of the cutting tool and being relevant for a cutting process carried out by the cutting tool. The cutting tool that is assembled and ready for delivery is assigned at least one information source that is readable by a user or a data processing system. The information source provides or encodes information relating to a deviation of the at least one actual dimension from a target dimension or the actual dimension itself. A holder for a cutting tool and a machine tool having a cutting tool are also provided.
Insert clamping mechanism of indexable grooving tool and clamping tool
In an insert clamping mechanism of an indexable grooving tool of the present invention, a shaft portion of a clamping tool has a major axis and a minor axis orthogonal to each other on a center axis thereof in a cross-sectional view perpendicular to the center axis. At least one end portion of the both end portions positioned on the major axis in an outer circumference of the shaft portion is formed into a recessed shape or a linear shape and is disposed not to come into contact with an upper wall and a lower wall of an opening-closing operation slit. Support portions are respectively formed in parts adjacent to the end portions on both sides around the center axis along the shaft portion.
