A motion which creates an end relief and which is integrated into the plunging cycle of non-generated bevel gears. The tool, after feeding to the correct tooth forming position in case of non-generated gears, is swung sideways out of cutting or grinding contact with the slot instead of along a withdraw path which is identical to the plunge path but opposite in direction.

Gear manufacturing process
A method for controlling a process for manufacturing a bevel gear includes forming, via a first process, a ring gear and determining a first set of parameters associated with the ring gear, and forming, via a second process, the pinion gear, and determining a second set of parameters associated with the pinion gear. The ring gear and the pinion gear are paired, and a single-flank test is executed on the paired ring gear and pinion gear to determine a third set of parameters. The paired ring gear and pinion gear are assembled into a final assembly, and an end-of-line noise/vibration analysis of the final assembly is executed. The noise/vibration analysis, the first set of parameters, the second set of parameters, and the third set of parameters are evaluated, and one of the first process, the second process, the pairing process, and the assembly process are adjusted based thereon.
Method for machining bevel gears using an eccentrically-moved dressable cup grinding wheel
A method which is executed in a grinding machine comprising a) rotationally driving a cup grinding wheel around an axis of rotation of a tool spindle at a first speed, b) rotationally driving a dressing tool around an axis of rotation of a dressing spindle at a second speed, c) carrying out a dressing method using the dressing tool, wherein a predetermined, fixed speed ratio is specified between the first speed and the second speed, and after steps (a), (b), and (c): i. eccentrically rotationally driving the cup grinding wheel around the axis of rotation of the tool spindle at a first machining speed using the eccentric drive, ii. carrying out a grinding method, wherein the bevel gear workpiece is machined by grinding using the cup grinding wheel.

PLUNGE DRESSING METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PRODUCING A GRINDING WHEEL FOR SPIRAL-BEVEL AND HYPOID GEAR MANUFACTURE
Method and systems are disclosed for plunge dressing of a spiral bevel gear-grinding wheel. The method includes providing a dressing roll for plunge dressing of a spiral bevel gear-grinding wheel, the dressing roll including: a body portion having an axis of rotation, a radial extent about said axis, and an axial extent, the body portion integrally comprising: a base portion configured for connection to a drive motor, a first cutting surface, and a second cutting surface, and plunge dressing of the spiral bevel gear-grinding wheel based upon the interference calculation. Some embodiments include determining whether interference will occur between the grinding wheel and the dressing roll before plunge dressing.

GEAR MANUFACTURING PROCESS

Method for gear cutting a bevel gear workpiece, wherein a preliminary machining phase includes a first machining procedure, wherein a first relative infeed movement moves the gear cutting tool into a first starting position relative to the bevel gear workpiece, the gear cutting tool penetrates the material of the bevel gear workpiece relative to the bevel gear workpiece, proceeding from the first starting position up to a first end position, and the gear cutting tool and bevel gear workpiece carry out a first rolling procedure in a first rolling range, carrying out a further rolling procedure, in order to post-machine at least one of the tooth gaps on the bevel gear workpiece using the rotationally-driven gear cutting tool or another rotationally-driven gear cutting tool, wherein in the scope of this further rolling, a rolling rotation is carried out in a further rolling range, which differs from the first rolling range.

A method for machining the tooth flanks of a bevel gear workpiece includes carrying out correction machining of a concave tooth flank and a convex tooth flank of at least one tooth gap by, after machining using a first machine setting, cutting free of the concave tooth flank by the bevel gear workpiece executing a workpiece rotation in a first rotational direction having a predefined first absolute value in relation to a gear-cutting tool and/or cutting free the convex flank by the bevel gear workpiece executing a workpiece rotation in another rotational direction having a predefined second absolute value in relation to the gear-cutting tool, and finish machining the concave tooth flank using a second machine setting, which differs from the first machine setting, and finish machining the convex tooth flank using a third machine setting, which differs from the second machine setting.
