The first light irradiator emits the first laser light to the first region of the workpiece in a first irradiation direction, the second light irradiator emits the second laser light to the second region of the workpiece in a second irradiation direction opposite to the first irradiation direction.

A container system for radioactive waste and method for using the same is provided. The system includes a canister configured for holding radioactive waste and a lid system. In one embodiment, the lid system comprises a two-part lid assembly including a confinement lid and a shielded lifting lid. The confinement lid is detachably mounted to the confinement lid. In use, the lifting lid supports the confinement lid for lifting and placement on the canister. The lifting lid further shields operators while the confinement lid is mounted to the canister. Thereafter, the lifting lid is removed and may be reused for confinement lid mountings on other canisters. In one embodiment, the confinement lid is bolted to the canister. The canister may be disposed in a protective overpack for transport and storage.

Thermos Cup Vacuumizing Device And Method

A thermos cup vacuumizing device and method are provided. The thermos cup vacuumizing device includes a pre-vacuumizing chamber, a heating chamber, a welding chamber, and a cooling chamber. A continuous conveying device is provided at a bottom of each of the chambers. The thermos cup vacuumizing device further includes a controllable and movable laser welding device and multiple transparent windows. A laser beam of the laser welding device passes through the transparent windows to melt a welding ball at provided at a hole in the center of the bottom of the thermos cup. A vertically movable inlet valve is provided at an inlet of the pre-vacuumizing chamber, and a vertically movable outlet valve is provided at an outlet of the cooling chamber. The present disclosure realizes the continuous vacuumizing operation on the thermos cups, improves the product qualification rate and processing efficiency, and realizes automatic mass production.

Apparatus for controlling a welding station used for welding seams extending along cylindrical can bodies, the welding station comprising a pair of welding rolls and a calibration unit for causing a desired cylinder overlap during welding. The calibration unit is adjustable along at least three different adjustment axes. The apparatus comprises: a weld monitor configured to monitor welded seams and provide an electrical signal indicative of weld thickness at a series of predetermined points along the seam length; a controller configured to receive said signal and to generate one or more control signals; and adjustment mechanisms for coupling to the calibration unit, or forming part of the calibration unit. The adjustment mechanisms are configured to receive the signal(s) and to be responsive thereto to adjust the calibration unit relative to one or more of said three adjustment axes, to provide the desired cylinder overlap and/or a desired weld quality.

A thermoform is located adjacent a surface of the enclosure and is secured in place within the enclosure. A metalized surface is located adjacent an interior surface of the enclosure sidewall and is secured in place by the thermoform. The metalized surface extends along a perimeter of the enclosure and is configured to obstruct laser energy during a weld seam process. The metalized surface may be provided as a separate backup band component or may be integrated in a perimeter sidewall of the thermoform.

The method of forming includes placing a top plate on a top opening of a side wall, a bottom of the side wall being sealed to a base plate. The top plate includes a top surface with a top edge having a bevel and with a channel set in from the top edge. Finally, a weld is formed between the beveled top edge and the top opening of the side wall to seal the top plate to the side wall.
