Ball joint, method of manufacturing a ball joint, and tool for manufacturing a ball joint

A ball joint includes a cover plate with a nested portion along an outer perimeter having a nested portion thickness, a domed portion located radially inward of the outer perimeter having a domed portion thickness, and a pressed portion located between the nested portion and the domed portion having a pressed portion thickness. The pressed portion thickness is less than the domed portion thickness, which during manufacture, is formed when the cover plate and bearing are simultaneously pressed into their final form and position. A tool can be used to press the cover plate and bearing in a single operation. The tool can have interchangeable components, allowing for the manufacture of differently sized ball joints.

Machine (1) for the assembly of profiles (2) formed of at least a first profile section (3) and a second profile section (4) connected by means of one or several thermally insulating sections (5,6), whereby the machine (1) is provided with press means (58) exerting an adjustable pressure on press tools (48) in a lateral direction (HH′) and towards the profile sections (3,4) to be assembled so as to be able to exert an adjustable force on corresponding walls (18) of grooves (17, 20, 31, 33, 82, 90) of the profile sections (3,4) in order to achieve a plastic deformation thereof.

Method for producing a drive unit device

The invention relates to a method for producing a drive unit device, in particular a fan device, which has at least one first modular unit (12) and at least one second modular unit (16), which concentrically accommodates at least a portion of the first modular unit (12), with the first and second modular units (12, 16) being intended to contribute mechanically to a change in torque, and the first modular unit (12) being secured in the second modular unit (16) in at least one method step (100, 110). To increase safety and reduce process costs, it is proposed that the first modular unit (12) be secured in the second modular unit (16) by means of at least one concentric pressing process step.

Heavy-duty connections e.g. for axle/suspension systems

A vehicle component such as an axle spindle or suspension beam (3) is connected to a tubular vehicle axle (1) by fitting a connector sleeve (2) onto the axle and subjecting the assembly to a crimping operation in which plural depressions (206,2018) are formed by indentation in the connector sleeve and the axle wall at the connection region (11,12) to fix the connector sleeve on the tubular axle. In the described proposals a solid lubricant (4) such as molybdenum disulphide is applied at the connection region between the connector sleeve (2) and axle (1), before crimping. The further vehicle component (3) is then connected to the connector sleeve (2) by welding.

Bracket for attachment with a hydraulic damper assembly and a method of joining a bracket and a hydraulic damper assembly

A bracket comprises a body extending along a center axis between a first end and a second end. The body defines a first groove and a second groove. The first groove, located at the first end and flaring radially outwardly, presents a first slanted surface. The second groove, located at the second end and flaring radially outwardly, presents a second slanted surface. A pair of coupling members including a first and a second coupling member are respectively located in the first and second grooves for engagement with a housing of a hydraulic damper assembly. The first end includes at least one first deformation for retaining the first coupling member. The second end includes at least one second deformation for retaining the second coupling member. A hydraulic damper assembly including the bracket and a method of joining the bracket and the hydraulic damper assembly are also disclosed herein.

Method and device for positioning components on a cable

A device and method of positioning a component on a cable. The method includes: moving a collet into position on the component; engaging the component with the collet; moving the collet with the component positioned thereon into alignment with an end of the cable; securing the collet to the end of the cable; moving the component from the collet to the cable; and removing the collet from the end of the cable.

Basket hanger

A basket hanger attached to a basket. The basket hanger having a hook with a plurality of spring steel wires strands extending from the hook, the spring steel wire strands having a substantially straight downwardly extending portion terminated at a distal end in a clip. Each clip positionable between an open position and a clipped position. In the clipped position, an upwardly extending leg of each of the clips extends through an opening in the peripheral flange of the basket such that the peripheral flange is received in an upward first bend of each of the clips, and a second bend of each of the clips engages a back side of the substantially straight downwardly extending portion such that a short dogleg partially wraps around the substantially straight downwardly extending portion.

Roller press assembly and method

An assembly for securing a component of a damper assembly includes a press movable along an axis from a retracted position to an extended position. The assembly includes a plurality of rollers rotatably supported at an end of the press. The rollers have an outer circumferential surface that includes a middle portion extending, in cross-section, transversely to the axis and linearly between an entry portion and a top portion of the outer circumferential surface.
