Each flute passage extends radially outward from a common location in the central passage to a corresponding one of the flutes. The central passage is closed to a terminal end of the threading end.

Minimum quantity lubrication system and method

A minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) system includes a controller, a lubricant module coupled to a tool spindle of a machining apparatus, and a pneumatic module coupled to the spindle. The lubricant module is configured to supply lubricant at pressure to the tool, as controlled by the controller. Likewise, the pneumatic module is configured to supply pressurized air to the tool, as controlled by the controller. The controller is configured to direct the lubricant module to supply lubricant prior to the controller receiving a START signal from a machine tool controller. Optionally, the lubricant pressure level is predetermined based on known characteristics of the tool that is coupled to the spindle. Optionally, the START signal is anticipated by referring to a signature/profile of the operational steps of a machining process where a timeline or time table of lubrication request intervals are identified.

Air bleeder and method for bleeding air

An air bleeder includes a branch, a lubricant supply conduit, and a return conduit. Lubricant stored in a tank is to be supplied to a valve provided in a machine tool via the lubricant supply conduit. The lubricant supply conduit includes a first supply conduit, and a second supply conduit. The first supply conduit connects the branch and the tank. The second supply conduit connects the branch at a first connecting position and the valve. The return conduit connects the tank and the branch at a second connecting position higher than the first connecting position in a height direction along a height of the air bleeder to return lubricant to the tank and to remove air from lubricant in the lubricant supply conduit.

Mist extraction system

A mist extraction system is provided that includes a plenum box having an inlet configured to be coupled in fluid communication with a machine tool enclosure. A blower is coupled in fluid communication with the plenum box and is configured to draw air into the plenum box from the machine tool enclosure via the inlet of the plenum box and exhaust the air back into the machine tool enclosure via an outlet of the blower. A baffle plate is arranged in the plenum box to redirect the air drawn into the plenum box through the inlet of the plenum box and a filter panel is arranged in the plenum box to filter the air redirected by the baffle plate prior to the air entering the blower. A collector arranged to collect mist from the air condensed on the baffle plate and the filter panel.

The atomizer unit (3) has a chamber assembly (8) with an injection chamber (9) and an atomizer chamber (10), wherein the injection chamber (9) is connected to the atomizer chamber (10) by a nozzle (11), and the atomizer unit (3) has at least one first feed channel (12) for feeding a first compressed air flow (13) into the injection chamber (9), at least one second feed channel (14) for feeding a second compressed air flow (15) into the atomizer chamber (10), and an injection valve (16) for injecting a coolant and/or lubricant (4) into the first compressed air flow (13) in the injection region (17) of the injection chamber (9). The atomizer unit (3) is designed such that the first compressed air flow (13) flows from the injection chamber (9) into the atomizer chamber (10) through the nozzle (11), is atomized in the atomizer chamber by the nozzle (11), is combined with the second compressed air flow (15) in the atomizer chamber (10) in order to form a transport flow (18) for transporting the injected coolant and/or lubricant (4), and can be conducted to the machining location (7). The atomizer unit (3) has a heater (20) which heats the coolant and/or lubricant (4), the first compressed air flow (13), the second compressed air flow (15), and/or the transport flow (18).
