Positioning device for applying an object to a grinder at pre-determined angles
11338408 · 2022-05-24 · ·

One embodiment of a device for positioning an object to be ground independent of the grinding tool having an armature shaft for holding an object, mounted by means of an armature and armature collar and attached to a mast, which is attached to a base. The armature shaft is used to position the object to be ground at a face angle determined by the combination of the vertical positioner length of the armature relative to the surface of the independent grinding tool. The rotational angle of the object to the grinding tool is set and can be repeated as needed by the indexed angle selector and the keyed receiver.

POLISHING APPARATUS FOR SMOOTHING DIAMONDS

A polishing apparatus is provided. Another aspect pertains to a self-leveling polishing apparatus for smoothing diamonds. Yet another aspect of the present system uses a ball and swivel joint in a diamond polishing machine. A further aspect employs a polishing apparatus including a diamond-holder, an elongated arm using gravity to apply downward polishing pressure of the diamond workpiece against a polishing wheel, and a sweeping transmission to cause the holder to radially move across the rotating polishing wheel.

One embodiment of a device for positioning an object to be ground independent of the grinding tool having an armature shaft (102) for holding an object, mounted by means of an armature (114) and armature collar (124) and attached to a mast (110), which is attached to a base (138). The armature shaft (102) is used to position the object to be ground at a face angle determined by the combination of the vertical positioner (126) length of the armature (114) relative to the surface of the independent grinding tool. The rotational angle of the object to the grinding tool is set and can be repeated as needed by the indexed angle selector (118) and the keyed receiver (116).

AN AUTOMATIC GEMSTONE POLISHING ROBOT

The present disclosure provides a fully automatic gemstone polishing robot. An aspect of the present disclosure provides an automatic gemstone polishing robot comprising: a gemstone polishing unit, comprising a gemstone holding unit for supporting a gemstone in contact with an abrasive surface, and configured to polish said gemstone in a plurality of iterations based on a feedback signal; an image capturing unit to capture, in one or more of the plurality of iterations, at least one image of the gemstone; and an image processing unit, which when executed by one or more processors, analyzes said at least one image of the gemstone with respect to one or a plurality of gemstone parameters, wherein the image processing unit is further configured to compare the one or a plurality of analyzed gemstone parameters with one or a plurality of pre-determined gemstone parameters to generate the feedback signal to be transmitted to the gemstone polishing unit. Another aspect of the present disclosure relates to a method of polishing a gemstone utilizing the automatic gemstone polishing robot.

Gemstone positioning fixture

A gemstone positioning fixture, including a base and a cover plate applied over the base. The cover plate has apertures, one for each gem to be worked on. At least one biasing member is positioned beneath the plate. The biasing member applies an upward force to the gems to contact the cover plate. The plate is formed of materials that conduct electricity, so as to conduct any charged particles away from the gem work surface.
