A wet blast machine for cleaning or preparing surfaces comprises: a treatment source for providing a pressurised mixture of treatment material; a nozzle, the nozzle comprising: an inlet for receiving the pressurised mixture of treatment material; an outlet for ejecting the pressurised mixture; and at least one hole in a wall of the nozzle, the hole for feeding one or more products into the nozzle such that one or more surfaces of the product are exposed to the treatment material whilst within the nozzle, allowing for a more efficient wet blast of the products.

A method for creating a three-dimensional (3D) mark in a protective coating including at least one of a TBC and a bond coating over a metal part, is provided. The method may include positioning a mask over the protective coating, the mask including an opening pattern therein; and performing an abrasive waterjet process on the protective coating using the mask. The abrasive waterjet erodes a first portion of the protective coating exposed through the first opening pattern to create the 3D mark. The mask is removed, leaving the 3D mark in the protective coating. The 3D mark only partially penetrates through the protective coating. A metal part may include a metal body, a protective coating over the metal body, and the 3D mark in the protective coating, is also provided. The 3D mark in the protective coating may include an opening having a width of between 30 and 300 micrometers.

Methods for cleaning flow path components of power systems and sump purge kits

Methods of cleaning flow path components of power systems, and sump purge kits used in the same or related methods are disclosed. A method of cleaning may include removing a casing of the turbine system to expose a rotor of the turbine system, a plurality of flow path components coupled to the rotor and/or the casing, and a sump system in communication with the rotor. The method may also include pressurizing the sump system in communication with the rotor, and sealing a plurality of openings formed in the rotor. Additionally, the method may include exposing the rotor and the plurality of flow path components to steam to dry hydrocarbons formed on a surface of the rotor and a surface of the plurality of flow path components, and blasting the rotor and the plurality of flow path components with solid carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) to dislodge the dried hydrocarbons.

The cleaning process is performed after a bonding coat layer removing process of removing a bonding coat layer (first coating layer) by chemical treatment, and a cleaning process of cleaning the turbine blade by blast treatment. Heat tinging process is then performed.

A tube housing an auger may be located where the two hoppers meet. In this way, the materials are mixed in the tube before being pushed through a hose to a nozzle. The mixture can be sprayed out of the nozzle. The mixture only requires a single air source, and the system operates using a combination of gravity, venturi suction, vibration, an auger and the like.
