IMPELLER FOR A BLAST WHEEL MACHINE
20220331934 · 2022-10-20 ·

An impeller for a centrifugal blast wheel machine includes a hub provided at one end of the impeller, with the hub being configured to be coupled to the motor. The impeller further includes a tapered section provided at an opposite end of the hub, with the tapered section defining a media inlet to receive blast media. The impeller further includes a plurality of drop-shaped vanes positioned between the hub and the tapered section. The plurality of drop-shaped vanes is spaced from one another on peripheries of the hub and the tapered section. The plurality of drop-shaped vanes defines a plurality of impeller media outlets constructed and arranged to allow egress of blast media upon rotation of the impeller. Each vane is drop-shaped having a leading side directed toward a direction of rotation of the impeller and a trailing side opposite the leading side.

BLADE FOR CENTRIFUGAL BLAST WHEEL MACHINE AND METHOD OF MAINTAINING A CENTRIFUGAL BLAST WHEEL MACHINE

A centrifugal blast wheel machine comprises a housing and a wheel assembly coupled to the housing. The wheel assembly has a plurality of blades configured to throw blast media introduced into the wheel assembly against a work piece. According to one embodiment, each blade of the plurality of blades includes a curved portion positioned adjacent a central hub of the wheel assembly, and a straight portion integrally formed with the curved portion extending radially outwardly from the wheel assembly. According to another embodiment, each blade includes a first side rail extending along the blade, the first side rail having a first recess, and a first grommet positioned in the first recess.

Impeller For Centrifugal Blasting Wheel

An impeller for a centrifugal blasting wheel includes a base plate, a support collar, and a plurality of spaced rotor blades interconnecting the base plate and support collar. A step is formed at the inner end of the collar and the outer ends of the rotor blades which causes blasting shot to be discharged to the throwing blades of the blasting wheel in a relatively more radial direction to reduce wear of the throwing blades. The base plate also has a frustum-shaped central boss formed to minimize wear of the base plate by the blasting shot. The frustum-shaped central boss has a recess formed therein so that the head of the bolt that connects the impeller to the throwing wheel is located entirely within the recess to also reduce wear of the bolt head.

CONTROL CAGE ASSEMBLY FOR CENTRIFUGAL BLAST WHEEL MACHINE

A centrifugal blast wheel machine includes a wheel assembly, an impeller positioned about an axis of the wheel assembly, a motor coupled to the impeller to drive the rotation of the impeller and the wheel assembly, and a control cage assembly surrounding the impeller and secured to the wheel assembly. The control cage assembly includes a control cage and a locking ring secured to a peripheral edge of the cylindrical wall. The locking ring includes an indicator projecting radially outwardly from the locking ring, and an adaptor plate secured to the wheel assembly. The adaptor plate includes at least one recess formed therein to receive the indicator when securing the locking ring and the control cage to the adaptor plate. The adaptor plate further includes a retaining ring secured to the adaptor plate to firmly secure the locking ring and the control cage in place.

Twist-Lock Assembly For A Centrifugal Blasting Wheel

A twist-lock assembly for locking and unlocking a feed spout and control cage in their respective operative positions on a centrifugal blasting wheel. The twist-lock assembly includes a stationary control cage adapter and a rotatable clamping plate. The control cage adapter is mounted on a side wall of the centrifugal blasting wheel housing and located at an access opening in the housing. The clamping plate is rotatable with respect to the control cage adapter for locking and unlocking the control cage and the feed spout in their respective operative positions in response to rotation thereof between a clockwise locking position and a counterclockwise unlocking position. The result is an improved assembly for quickly dis-connecting and re-connecting the feed spout and control cage to provide ease of maintenance.
