Abrasive article
An abrasive article, in particular a coated abrasive disc, includes a plurality of holes which are arranged in a hole pattern. The density of holes decreases from an inner region of the hole pattern to an outer region of the hole pattern. At least one hole in the hole pattern is designed as an elongated hole.
Polishing pad, manufacturing method of polishing pad and polishing method
A polishing pad is provided. The polishing pad comprises a polishing layer and a metal-containing layer. The polishing layer has a polishing surface and a backside surface opposite to each other, wherein the backside surface has a plurality of cavities. The metal-containing layer is disposed on the backside surface of the polishing layer and fills into the cavities, wherein a first contact area is between the metal-containing layer and the backside surface of the polishing layer, and the first contact area is larger than the orthogonal projection area of the polishing layer.
ABRASIVE ARTICLE AND RELATED METHODS
Provided are abrasive articles, and related methods, that include a flexible abrasive layer having opposed first and second major surfaces, a foam backing bonded to the second major surface, the foam backing being resiliently compressible, and a plurality of slits disposed on the first major surface and penetrating through the flexible abrasive layer and at least partially through the foam backing. In further disclosed embodiments, the abrasive article includes, a flexible abrasive layer having opposed first and second major surfaces, a structured member extending across the second major surface of the flexible abrasive layer, where the structured member and the flexible abrasive layer have respective three-dimensional patterns of discrete, isolated wells that correspond to each other, and a foam backing extending across a major surface of the structured member opposite the flexible abrasive layer, the foam backing being resiliently compressible.
MESH ABRASIVE AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
A method of making a mesh abrasive product comprises sequentially: 1) providing a production tool having a mold surface defining a plurality of shaped cavities and filling at least some of the shaped cavities with an abrasive composite precursor slurry, wherein the abrasive composite precursor slurry comprises abrasive particles dispersed within a curable binder precursor; 2) contacting the mold surface with an open mesh backing comprising interwoven threads defining openings, and having first and second opposed major sides; 3) ultrasonically vibrating the abrasive composite precursor slurry; 4) curing the curable binder precursor by exposing it to sufficient actinic electromagnetic radiation to provide isolated shaped abrasive composites contacting and secured to the first major side of the open mesh backing; and 5) separating the mesh abrasive product from the production tool. An open mesh abrasive product preparable by the method is also disclosed.
CONFORMABLE ABRASIVE ARTICLE
The present disclosure provides abrasive articles that include an abrasive layer having a contact surface, a first layer coupled to the abrasive layer, and a second layer coupled to the first layer. The first layer is configured to provide contact pressure to the abrasive layer, such as through a higher hardness than the second layer. The second layer is configured to provide conformability to the abrasive layer, such as through a higher compressibility than the first layer. The resulting abrasive articles may exert a consistent contact pressure against a substrate with increased conformability around the substrate, reduced hysteresis, improved removal rate consistency, and/or improved lifetime over abrasive articles that do not use the multiple layer construction described above.
Concentric Abrasive Disc Punch
According to some embodiments, an abrasive disc punch comprises: a bottom plate; a top plate parallel to the bottom plate and coupled to the bottom plate via guide pins; springs coupled between the bottom plate and the top plate; a punch coupled to the top plate; and a cutting block coupled to the bottom plate. The cutting block comprises a cutting edge that is aligned coaxially with the punch. The abrasive disc punch further comprises a trim cushion coupled to the cutting block via a spring. The trim cushion is positioned within the cutting edge of the cutting block and comprises a flat horizontal top portion. In an open position the two or more springs separate the top plate and punch from the bottom plate and the cutting block, and the flat horizontal top portion of the trim cushion is positioned above the cutting edge of the cutting block.
Thin plastic polishing article for CMP applications
A method and apparatus for polishing a substrate that includes a polishing article comprising a polymeric sheet having a raised surface texture, which is formed on the surface of the polymeric sheet is provided. According to one or more implementations of the present disclosure, an advanced polishing article has been developed, which does not require abrasive pad conditioning. In some implementations of the present disclosure, the advanced polishing article comprises a polymeric sheet having a polishing surface with a raised surface texture or micro-features and/or a plurality of grooves or macro-features formed in the polishing surface. In some implementations, the raised surface texture is embossed, etched, machined or otherwise formed in the polishing surface prior to installing and using the advanced polishing article in a polishing system. In one implementation, the raised features have a height within one order of magnitude of the features removed from the substrate during polishing.
Flexible grinding product with flattened surface and method for manufacturing the same
A method of manufacturing a flexible grinding product comprises the steps: a) preparing an open cloth of knitted or woven fabric; b) applying a coating to one surface of the cloth, wherein the coated surface of the cloth has one or more flat portions; c) applying a grinding agent to the coated surface of the cloth. Further, a flexible grinding product has an open cloth, wherein a surface of the cloth is provided with a coating such that the coated surface has one or more flat areas which are at least partially provided with a grinding agent.
