A cutter device including a transport unit for transporting a medium, a round blade configured to move, while rotating, in a width direction intersecting a transport direction in which the medium is transported, a fixed blade provided along the width direction, and a controller configured to control driving of the transport unit and a movement in the width direction of the round blade, in which the controller is configured, when the medium is cut by causing the round blade to move to a first direction of the width direction, to cause the round blade to move to a second direction being a direction opposite to the first direction while causing the round blade to rotate without causing the medium to move in the transport direction.

The anvil roll may include a cylindrically-shaped outer circumferential surface and may be adapted to rotate about a first axis of rotation. More particularly, the anvil roll may include a body formed from a first material, such as a metallic material. The body may also include grooves in the outer circumferential surface, and abrasion resistant material may be fused to the body to fill the grooves to form strips. During operation, a tool member may be positioned to contact the strips of abrasion resistant material.

The system includes a conveyor system configured to receive the unfinished documents from the first cutting apparatus, arrange the unfinished documents into a stream of shingled documents traveling in the feed direction of the first cutting apparatus, and turn the unfinished documents at a right angle to travel in the feed direction of the second cutting apparatus without changing their orientation.

The device comprises a cutting base along which the strip of medication packages is to be moved, a circular cutting blade arranged perpendicularly against the cutting base, and an actuator connected to the circular cutting blade and configured to move the circular cutting blade in opposite first and second directions for cutting the strip between two successive medication packages. In the device the actuator is connected to the circular cutting blade with a spring suspension allowing the circular cutting blade to move in opposite third and fourth directions perpendicular to the cutting base.

BI-DIRECTIONAL CUTTING MODULES

According to an example, a cutting module may comprise a carriage and a cutting blade, wherein the carriage may be capable of reciprocating movement along a cutting path. The carriage may be supported by a support structure and the cutting blade may have a fitting pin to engage with the carriage. During a first direction movement along the cutting path, the fitting pin may obtain a first cutting-edge angle. During a second direction movement along the cutting path, the fitting pin may obtain a second cutting-edge angle.

Method for reducing label waste using a cutting apparatus

A method of reducing label waste that employs a stand-alone or printer attached apparatus for cleanly and efficiently cutting a web of media or tag stock into individual units. The apparatus used by the method may cut vinyl, plastic, or RFID stock material in both back and forth directions without sacrificing cut quality, and preferably comprises a housing, a carriage assembly and a movable cutter assembly. The cutter assembly comprises a cutting element such as a wheel blade, and a pressure adjusting element for adjusting the amount of pressure applied by the cutting element to the stock material. Alternatively, the cutter assembly may be manufactured with a predetermined pressure load, but still permit an operator to adjust the depth of cut. The method involves using the cutting apparatus to make a series of cuts as the label material is incrementally advanced through the cutting apparatus.

STAND-ALONE CUTTING APPARATUS

A stand-alone apparatus for cutting a web of media or tag stock into individual units for use downstream of a printer. The apparatus may cut vinyl, plastic, or RFID stock material in both back and forth directions. The apparatus comprises a housing, a carriage assembly and a movable cutter assembly. The cutter assembly is easily interchangeable and comprises a cutting element such as a wheel blade, and a pressure adjusting element for adjusting the amount of pressure applied by the cutting element to the stock material. Alternatively, the cutter assembly may be manufactured with a predetermined pressure load, but still permit an operator to adjust the depth of cut. The apparatus may be powered by and or in hardline or wireless communication with a printer, or may further comprise a computer microprocessor, memory and user interface to function wholly independent from a printer.
