Log cutter
A sawmill and method for sawing a log. The sawmill includes a transfer conveyor to convey a log quarter wedge segment to a log transport rig configured to orient the log quarter wedge segment so that an apex of the log quarter wedge segment is oriented in a downward direction. The log transport rig moves the log quarter wedge segment through a band saw configured to saw the log quarter wedge segment into two log eighth wedge segments. A transfer conveyor is provided to gather the two log eighth wedge segments from the log transport rig and feed the two log eighth wedge segments sequentially to a resawing rig comprising a conveying device and from two to six band saws configured to saw boards from the each of two log eighth wedge segments in succession as each of the two log eighth wedge segments are transported through the resawing rig.

Band saw machine having a cleaning unit
A band saw machine is adapted for cutting a lumber, and includes a frame body unit, a transport unit, a cutting unit, a cleaning unit and a guide unit. The frame body unit includes a base plate and a hood body extending rearward from the base plate and cooperating with a conveyor belt of the transport unit to define an output passage. The cutting unit is adapted to cut the lumber into an upper piece and a lower piece. The guide unit includes two guide rollers mounted to the hood body, extending into the outlet passage, and adapted to separate the upper piece from the lower piece. The cleaning unit includes an air lance for directing an air stream to the conveyor belt.
Band saw machine
A band saw machine is adapted for cutting a lumber, and includes frame body unit, a transport unit, a hold-down unit, a cutting unit and a drive unit. The transport unit includes an endless conveyor belt extending in a front-rear direction through the frame body unit for transporting the lumber. The hold-down unit includes an endless hold-down belt extending in the front-rear direction through the frame body unit. The endless conveyor belt and the endless hold-down belt are driven by the drive unit to rotate synchronously to carry the lumber to be cut by the cutting unit.
ROBOTIC CHOPSAW OR MERCHANDISER
The technology disclosed relates a robotic workstations and methods for cutting timber. The robotic saw workstation can achieve improved cutting of timber. In one configuration, the robotic saw workstation includes a robot manipulator capable of moving an end effector adapter plate to points in a three-dimensional work volume under programed control of a programmable robot controller executing stored instructions. A cutting head is affixed to the end effector adapter plate. The cutting head further includes a support structure; a rotatable shaft; a blade coupled to the rotatable shaft; and a motor coupled to the rotatable shaft for driving the blade. Configurations include multiple manipulators disposed to make multiple cuts in a log substantially contemporaneously, cutting heads implementing circular, band or chain sawing mechanisms, continuous or batch-feeding of logs into and out of the workstations.
SAWMILL SYSTEM WITH BIDIRECTIONAL BANDSAW CAPABILITY USING OPPOSITELY DIRECTED SINGLE-SIDED BLADES
A sawmill for cutting logs in successive bi-directional passes that includes a pair of horizontally extending beams, a carriage assembly and a saw head mounted atop the carriage assembly. The saw head includes a band saw drive source and at least one set of first and second band saw blade wheels. First and second band saw blades partially circumscribe the first and second band saw blade wheels with the cutting edge of the first and second band saw blades directed oppositely from one another so that as the carriage assembly and saw head travel along the frame the log is cut by the first saw blade and as the carriage assembly and saw head reciprocates on the beams in the opposite direction, a second section is cut from the log by the second band saw blade.
