Vertical grain sawmill and method of sawing vertical grain lumber
What is disclosed is an improved method of sawing wood and an improved sawmill capable of producing vertical grain lumber. Vertical grain lumber is a preferred lumber for use, for example, in trim applications. The improved method and improved sawmill both utilize a track having a carriage, the carriage has a vertical blade and a horizontal blade. The vertical blade and the horizontal blade travel on the carriage down the track. The log is then rotated for another length of lumber to be cut. In a preferred embodiment the sawmill utilizes a skewer for adjusting the log. In a preferred embodiment the log is held by a lathe that can be moved. In a preferred embodiment the log is placed on a skewer before it is engaged by the lathe.

SPRING ASSISTED ADJUSTABLE LOG REST AND CROSS BUNK
A log rest assembly for use in a portable sawmill has a log rest post mounted on a first end of a cylindrical mounting rod. The log rest post is fixed to a cylindrical log rest sleeve such that the log rest post remains perpendicular to said mounting rod. A stationary collar is affixed to the mounting rod. A compressible collar is mounted onto the mounting rod between said cylindrical log rest sleeve and said stationary collar. The compressible collar and the stationary collar provide pressure on the cylindrical log rest sleeve to constrain rotation of the log rest in relation to the mounting rod.

Robotic apparatus for processing timber used in construction of a log home
A robotic apparatus for processing the timber logs intended to be used in the construction of a log structure. The robotic apparatus includes at least a vertical clamp assembly, a horizontal clamp assembly, a roller clamp assembly, a central log processing assembly, and a conveyor. The central log processing assembly allows multiple processes to be performed sequentially on the same machine requiring much less equipment and less labor in the handling and processing of the logs. By utilizing multiple tool masts, a primary mast can be performing a primary process while the secondary mast is selecting the tool appropriate to the next or secondary process.

LOG SUPPORT ASSEMBLY FOR A SAWMILL
A log support assembly for a sawmill. The log support assembly has an elongate log support member with at least one aperture in its side wall, a holder for releasably holding the elongate log support member, a passageway in the holder for slidably receiving the elongate log support member, and a projection extending into the passageway. The projection is sized and shaped to releasably engage the at least one aperture. The passageway is sized and shaped to allow the elongate log support member to be tilted between a locked position with the projection engaging the at least one aperture, and an unlocked position with the projection disengaged from the at least one aperture. The locked position prevents the elongate log support member to be lowered relative to the holder. The unlocked position permits the elongate log support member to be raised or lowered relative to the holder.
