Saw tooth and insert therefor
A saw tooth for a saw including a square saw tooth body to be mounted on a holder and for receiving inserts fastened to inwardly sloping seating surfaces on the cutting end of the tooth body. The inserts are provided with cutting edges. Between seating surfaces, the cutting end of the tooth body defines recesses for receiving intermediate members fastened therein. The intermediate members are provided with cutting edges, and the intermediate members abut the adjoining inserts to form a cutting surface about the periphery of the cutting end of the saw tooth and help protect the saw tooth body from damage including washout.
SAW TOOTH FOR FORESTRY HARVESTER
A saw tooth includes a body, a plurality of petals, and a plurality of inserts. The body has a forward surface defining a perimeter, a rearward surface, and, a plurality of sides extending between the forward and rearward surfaces. Each petal has a forward surface and a rearward surface, and the rearward surface defines a perimeter. The petal is coupled to the forward surface of the body. The perimeter of the rearward surface of the petal does not extend outwardly beyond the perimeter of the forward surface of the body. Each insert is positioned between two of the petals, is coupled to the body, and has an outer side. The outer side of the insert extends outwardly beyond a corresponding side of the body.

Method for Sawing a Long Profile and Machine for Cutting Same to Length
The invention relates to a method for sawing a long profile (3) in that a sawing disc (2) having teeth (6) arranged around a circular outer circumference of the sawing disc (2) is rotated freely, the sawing disc (2) is advanced from a freely rotating position to an outer wall of the long profile (3), and a zero tooth (Z.sub.1, Z.sub.2, Z.sub.3, Z.sub.4) engages as the first of the teeth (6) in the material of the outer wall, wherein, during the free rotation of the sawing disc (2), lateral runouts (d) of the teeth (6) are determined, and a tooth (6) having a minimum lateral runout (d) is determined and used as the zero tooth (Z.sub.1, Z.sub.2, Z.sub.3, Z.sub.4).

Cutting device tooth mounting arrangement
A saw disc assembly includes a circular plate having a mounting lug defining a V-shaped lug mounting profile extending between first and second sides of a tooth mount. A cutting tooth includes a shank-less body defining a cutting profile at a cutting face of the body and a mounting profile at a mounting face of the body having a configuration for complementary engagement with the lug mounting profile. The tooth mounting profile has first and second flat surfaces engageable with the lug mounting profile so that when the tooth is mounted to the lug, the flat surfaces positively resist rotation of the tooth with respect to the lug about the fastener, while a radially inner side of the tooth extending between the cutting and mounting faces is spaced from the lug and the cutting device.

Wood cutting tool and an arrangement for using said tool
Disclosed is a cutting tool mounted on a shaft rotating about an axis, including a body having first cutting inserts mounted with equal spacing at the outer periphery of the body, which first cutting inserts have a cutting edge extending across the width of the body at a predetermined peripheral radius from the axis; and second cutting inserts mounted with equal spacing adjacent the outer periphery on a first side surface of the body, which second cutting inserts have a cutting edge extending in an axial plane perpendicular to the axis. The cutting edge of each first insert extends up to a predetermined distance from the axial plane of the second inserts; and the cutting edge of each second insert preceding a first insert extends a predetermined radial distance outside the peripheral radius of the cutting edges of the first inserts. Also disclosed is a related apparatus.
