PAVING DEVICE
There is disclosed a paving member comprising: a body having a base configured to be supported on a ground surface and a surface configured to support traffic thereon, the body comprising a combination of aggregate and cement mixed at a ratio of 5:1 such that the body is permeable to water to facilitate collection of water therein and delivery of said water to said ground surface.
RUBBER CONCRETE PRODUCT
Disclosed is a concrete product incorporating rubber aggregate produced by casting under pressure. The concrete product may optionally be cast at 6.9-27.7 MPa for periods of, for example, 24 hours. In one embodiment the rubber aggregate may comprise coarse and/or fine rubber aggregate to replace natural sources of coarse and fine aggregate. Casting under pressure was found to generally improve the performance characteristics of the concrete when compared to corresponding concrete cast without pressure.
Methods of utilizing coal combustion residuals and structures constructed using such coal combustion residuals
A process of fabricating a static structure including an interior volume that includes the steps of mixing coal combustible residual (CCR) with structural reinforcing materials to form a construction material and utilizing the construction material to fabricate exterior enclosure-forming components of the static structure. The enclosure-forming components are sufficiently reinforced, enhanced and/or thick to provide protection against exterior forces directed against the structure.
Paving Block with Improved Illumination
A paving block with improved illumination (luminescent paving block) preferably includes a concrete base layer and a photoluminescent layer. The photoluminescent layer is formed on top of the concrete base layer. The concrete base layer is preferably created by combining sand, aggregate, water, pigment and cement to form an uncured concrete mixture. The photoluminescent layer preferably includes very fine aggreagate, cement, water, pigment, sand and a polyester resin infused with a photoluminescent pigment or a silica-based glass material infused with photoluminescent pigment. Further, a light transmitting sealant may be placed over the photoluminescent material.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SUBGRADE UTILITY VAULTS, LIDS AND TRENCHES USING RECYCLED POLYSTYRENE
Methods, compositions, and apparatuses are provided herein that utilize polystyrene from recycled products to make a high strength composite concrete that can be used for subgrade utility vaults, utility trenches, etc. Polystyrene is a widely-used plastic that can be collected and then densified at particular parameters including temperature to transform the polystyrene to a usable form. Then, the densified polystyrene is combined with other resin materials and dry materials to form a high-strength concrete material. The amount of densified polystyrene that is combined with the other materials is critical to control shrinkage and expansion of the concrete material during manufacturing.
AEROGEL- AND/OR XEROGEL-BASED MASS FOR ADVANCED MANUFACTURING AND USE THEREOF
A composition, in particular for use as a printable and/or extrudable mass, comprises or consists of: 10-99.99 vol. % of a high-porosity material, whereby the high-porosity material is an aerogel and/or a xerogel, 0.001-5.0 vol. % of an organic binding promoter and, optionally, balance to 100 vol. % of further components.
INDUCTION HEATING SYSTEM AND HEATER
An inductive heater for an aerosol generating device is provided. The inductive heater includes a heater element for heating aerosol generating material. The heater element includes a ceramic member and susceptor material integrally formed with the ceramic member. The susceptor material is arranged in use to be heated by electromagnetic induction.
The photoluminescent layer preferably includes very fine aggreagate, cement, water, pigment, photoluminescent sand and a polyester resin infused with a photoluminescent pigment or a silica-based glass material infused with photoluminescent pigment. Further, a light transmitting sealant may be placed over the photoluminescent material.
Beneficial use structures
Beneficial use structures are disclosed that include coal combustion residuals (CCR) mixed with water and a binder to form a structural material, and adapted to be compacted for use in the formation of the beneficial use structure. Various structures having beneficial uses are described, including compressed air storage facilities and a pumped hydroelectric facility, including such a facility adapted for use with a lock system of a waterway.
