A delivery device for concrete admixtures, in the form of a film of watersoluble material, having a concrete admixture incorporated within the film. The film can be attached to a formwork for concrete and has a protective layer, which is removable to allow the water in the concrete to dissolve the film and release the admixture into the concrete. The film contains the required quantity of admixture and is weather-resistant and substantially time-insensitive. The delivery device is used in a process to retard the setting portion of a surface of concrete.

The present invention relates to a method for casting building material to form a construction element using a computer-controlled apparatus. The method comprises the steps of: moving the material deposition head and selectively depositing material, to fabricate a formwork; pouring building material in contact with at least a portion of the formwork; at least partially curing the building material, thereby forming the construction element; and removing at least a portion of the formwork from the construction element.

A method for casting a construction element includes: using a CAD technique designing mould bodies 12 comprising mould-halves 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 12.4, 12.5, 12.6, 12.7, 12.8; printing the mould-halves on a 3D printer which includes an adhesive dispensing system; providing a locating formation 16 on mould-half 12.7; reinforcing the mould-halves with two polyurethane or polyurea coatings; applying form wax to the mould-halves; printing a conduit 18 on a 3D printer; locating the mould-halves at a construction site and securing the mould halves to one another; locating the conduit 18 relative to the mould-halves by means of the locating formation 16; pouring concrete into the assembled mould so as to embed the conduit 18 within the concrete; and allowing the concrete to cure; removing the mould-halves and repeating a desired number of times.

Surface retarder coating compositions of the invention are based on the use of at least one non-Ordinary Portland Cement (non-OPC) binder and at least one OPC set retarder agent, which are provided in powder form that can be mixed with water at the construction site. The coating is applied onto the surface of a mould or formwork using roller or spray equipment, and concrete can then be cast within 30-60 minutes against the coating. The OPC set-retarding agent operates to retard setting of the concrete so that it can be de-moulded the next day and its surface can be removed using a high pressure water spray to reveal aggregate embedded beneath the removed surface.
