A method for manufacturing a plastic window includes a mold preparation step for preparing a first mold, a second mold, and a third mold, a film preparation step for preparing a functional film, a conductive portion, and a bus bar, a placement step for placing the functional film, a first injection step, wherein an intermediate product provided with the cover on the functional film in an integral manner is made, and a second injection step, wherein a product provided with the intermediate product on the second surface in an integral manner is made. The first mold surface has a first forming portion forming the back surface of the cover and a second forming portion forming the second surface of the transparent body. In the placement step, the conductive portion is placed on the second forming portion and the bus bar is placed on the first forming portion.

The molded article includes a threadless frame defining an opening, a flip cap located substantially coplanar with, and integrally formed with, the frame, a compound hinge between the frame and the flip cap, the hinge allowing the flip cap to rotate about the hinge to rest on top of the frame, an in-mold lidding film having a perimeter molded to the frame such that the in-mold lidding film covers the opening defined by the frame, wherein the in-mold lidding film is removable from the frame, and a pull tab, formed from the in-mold lidding film, that extends past the opening defined by the frame.

The present disclosure includes systems, devices, and methods for preventing contamination during formation of an optical article. In some implementations, a device for preventing contamination of a mold cavity during injection molding of a function wafer includes a containment band having an annular base that defines a first opening configured to receive a functional wafer. The device also includes one or more sidewalls that project a first direction from and surround at least a portion of the first opening. The one or more sidewalls may be configured such that, during formation of an optical article, a first portion of the functional wafer is in contact with the one or more sidewalls.

A trim component for a vehicle interior is disclosed. The trim component may comprise a fiber panel comprising a compression-formed component and a structure comprising a resin. The compression-formed component may provide a structural substrate. The structure may comprise a border (e.g. edge, dimensionally accurate border, etc.); the structure may comprise a molded feature (e.g. rib, ridge, edge, ancillary component, etc.) configured to reinforce and/or support the fiber panel. The fiber panel may comprise a resin to bond the fibers; the structure comprising a resin (e.g. injection-molded plastic/material) may be bonded to the fiber panel. The trim component may comprise a cover for the structural substrate provided by the compression-formed component.

Vehicle trim component
A vehicle trim component is disclosed. The vehicle trim component may be prepared by a process comprising heating and placing a fiber panel into a mold cavity, compressing the fiber panel in the mold cavity to form a compression formed component providing a structural substrate having a thickness along an edge and injecting resin into the mold cavity with the structural substrate. A border may be formed along the thickness of the structural substrate by the injected resin; the border may provide dimensional accuracy at the edge of the structural substrate notwithstanding variations in the fiber panel. A resin feature (such as a part, component, connector, reinforcing element, weakened zone, shape, etc.) may be formed in or on the structural substrate by the injected resin (e.g. in a gap or void). The resin feature may comprise a rib to extend across an interface between the structural substrate and the border.
