Heat bonding of low energy surface substrates
A method comprising providing a polymeric substrate having a melting point of from about 130° C. to about 190° C., and locating a material layer onto the substrate, wherein the material layer comprises one or more polymeric materials that liquefy upon exposure to temperatures of at least about 100° C., to blend with a softened portion of the polymeric substrate. Upon exposure of one or more of the substrate and the material layer to a stimulus, the temperature is increased in a predetermined temperature zone of one or more of the substrate and material layer to cause blending of the one or more polymeric materials of the material layer with the softened portion of the polymeric substrate.
High frequency adhesive bonding
A system and method for bonding a first layer of material to a second layer of material includes a first electrically conductive plate, a second electrically conductive plate spaced apart from the first electrically conductive plate. The second electrically conductive plate is electrically grounded. A high frequency generator in electrical communication with the first electrically conductive plate supplies high frequency electrical signals to the first electrically conductive plate. An adhesive applied to one of the first and second layers of material has an electromagnetic susceptor material that when subjected to the electric field heats the adhesive to an adhesive curing temperature to bond the first layer of material to the second layer of material. A clamping mechanism applies pressure to one of the first and second layers of material to maintain contact between the first and second layers until an adhesive cure time has lapsed.
Tooling for use in a method for electromagnetic welding of molded parts, and method for manufacturing the tooling
A tooling for use in a method for electromagnetic welding of two contacted surfaces of molded parts. The tooling includes a rubber body and pressurizing means for pressurizing the rubber body and applying pressure to the contacted surfaces. The rubber body includes an embedded stiff body shaped such as to define different rubber body thicknesses in different directions, which causes a different pressure build-up in the different directions. A method for manufacturing the tooling. The tooling may be used in electromagnetic welding of two contacted surfaces of molded parts by moving a joining inductor along the contacted surfaces, generating an electromagnetic field in an induction-sensitive component of the molded parts to heat a thermally activated coupling means of the molded parts to above a melting temperature of the coupling means.
Packaging method and display device
A packaging method and a display device are disclosed. The packaging method comprises: packaging a display element on a substrate having the display element disposed thereon to form a package covering the display element, wherein a first substance is disposed on at least a part of the substrate inside the package, the first substance comprising thermite; and initiating the first substance to obtain a second substance comprising a product of the thermite reaction.
Magnetic Plastic Induction
A plastic product having magnetic properties and a method for making the same is provided. The method comprises creating a mixture of a nylon and a metal, melting the mixture to create a melted mixture of the metal suspended in the nylon, injecting the melted mixture into a mold to harden the melted mixture and shape the melted mixture into the product's shape, applying an electrical current to the mold while the mixture is in a viscous state to align the poles of the metal suspended in the nylon in the mixture in a single direction before the mixture has hardened, and applying a magnetic field to the hardened mixture to provide the product with magnetic properties.
Method of sticking together and un-sticking two parts by means of a filled adhesive
A method of bonding a first part on a second part made of composite material by an adhesive, in which the adhesive is filled with elements of shape memory alloy, is provided. A method of un-sticking the first part adhesively bonded on the composite material second part is also provided. The un-sticking method includes a step of weakening the adhesive interface that consists in subjecting the adhesively bonded parts to heat treatment performed at a temperature that is lower or higher than the martensitic transformation temperature of the shape memory alloy elements.
Cladding composition, and method for producing metal/resin bonded member
Provided is a cladding composition which contains metal powder, a binder, and an organic solvent in a case of bonding a metal base material and a resin member to each other. Further, provided is a method for producing a metal/resin bonded member, including a step of coating at least a portion of a metal base material with the cladding composition; a step of irradiating the coated portion of the metal base material which has been coated with the cladding composition, with a laser; a step of disposing the resin member on the laser irradiation portion of the metal base material; and a step of heating an interface between the laser irradiation portion and the resin member so that the metal base material and the resin member are bonded to each other.
