Laser Induced Sealing of Concentrically Layered Materials
A connection, and methods of making an using such a connection, the connection comprising a first layer; a second layer concentrically disposed about the first layer; and a laser-induced seal between portions of the first and second layers; wherein the laser-induced seal provides a fluid-tight engagement between the first and second layers. As to particular embodiments of the connection, the first layer can be incorporated into a first conduit and the second layer can be incorporated into a second conduit.
Heat sealing apparatus
A heat seal between a plastic bag and a plastic sheet is used to provide a more secure and reliable seal to define a modified atmosphere for a pallet of perishables. The heat seal reduces atmosphere failures and aids in providing a more consistent atmosphere in the pallet bag system thus reducing the number of pallets that have an out of specification atmosphere. The heat seal may be created with a heating sealing apparatuses that is part of a system used to load and seal a load of containers of perishables onto a pallet. The heat sealing apparatus uses two heated rollers coupled to a rotating arm to contact and heat seal a plastic bag to a plastic seal that enclose a palletized load of perishables that are rotated on a turntable.

HDPE covers for wastewater treatment lagoons, and HDPE patches thereon in service for further attachments
The invention relates to covers for wastewater treatment lagoons, which are typically covered by expansive stretches of sheet-form, high density polyethylene (HDPE). The invention more particularly relates to improvements in attaching HDPE patches at distributed locations thereon, which patches provide locally increased thickness to the cover in service as seats for attachment of further attachments to the cover, such as for example and without limitation HDPE straps for retention of HDPE grout-filled ballast pipes, and so on.
Electrofusion of pipe liners
A method of joining together liner sections within a polymer-lined pipe energises an induction coil inside the pipe to spot-heat part of a circumferential interface between the liner sections. This melts and fuses the polymer material locally. The induction coil is then moved along the interface to heat other parts of the interface successively above the melting temperature. An apparatus for performing the method has a power supply for energising the induction coil and a drive system for moving the energised induction coil relative to a body of the apparatus. The apparatus may be configured as a carriage that is movable along the pipe.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A REINFORCING STRUCTURE ON THE SURFACE OF A MOULDING
The present invention discloses a device for producing a reinforcing structure, which comprises a strip that is fibre-reinforced and comprises thermoplastic material, on the surface of a moulding. The device is characterized in that it is designed such that the laser diode array directly irradiates the heating-up area of the strip and/or the heating-up area of the surface of the moulding or of the already formed reinforcing structure, wherein the laser diodes of the laser diode array are formed as surface emitters.
Balloon catheter, balloon catheter manufacturing device, balloon catheter manufacturing method, catheter connection device, catheter connection method, and connected catheter
To provide a balloon catheter and an apparatus and method for manufacturing the balloon catheter, whereby the degree of welding can be appropriately adjusted and the balloon catheter can be formed so as to have a desired surface profile suitable for various uses including medical use. With a shaft 14 inserted through a catheter tube 30a inserted into an end portion 28b of a balloon and also with a pressure tube 32a fitted around a welding section where the end portion 28b of the balloon 28 is lapped over the catheter tube 30a, the shaft 14 is heated by emitting laser light from a laser radiation unit 8 to the welding section while the shaft 14 is rotated by a chuck, to weld the welding section.
ELECTRONICALLY COMMUTATED DIRECT CURRENT MOTOR WITH INDIVIDUAL TERMINALS AND PLASTIC PARTS
An electronically commutated direct current motor with a housing, a housing cover, a bearing shield, a rotor and a stator, wherein the rotor includes a shaft and a permanent magnet and the stator consists of single terminals, which are provided with terminal insulation. The direct current motor ensures a space-saving construction connection of motor components or components with the housing of the electronic commutated direct current motor, conforming to its class, wherein additional connections or sealing elements are not required, wherein a firm and sealed connection can be manufactured upon demand and an easy integration of other functions and interfaces is possible.
Sealing process and machine
The invention relates to a system and process of the sealing of an area of an object intended to be covered, such as an opening slot, by a sealing strip which becomes adhesive in an excited state when subjected to ultrasound. This procedure comprises the steps of: supplying a sealing strip between an object and a sonotrode having a linear application area; supporting or pressing the linear application area of the sonotrode with the sealing strip to thereby adhere the sealing strip area, which is in contact with the linear application area of the sonotrode, to a corresponding area of the object; and displacing the object in relation to the sonotrode according to a profile of the sealing area, so as to apply the sealing strip to the sealing area of the object.
DEVICE FOR PRODUCING A REINFORCING STRUCTURE ON A MOLDED BODY SURFACE
The present invention relates to a device for producing a reinforcing structure, which comprises a fiber-reinforced strip having a thermoplastic material, onto a molded body surface. The device is characterized in that emission direction vectors of at least two laser diodes of a laser diode array are aligned in a non-parallel manner to one another and are directed toward one another in the direction of a heating surface of the strip and/or the molded body surface.
