METHOD FOR APPLYING A SEAL TO A PLATE
The invention relates to a method for applying a joint (2, 102) onto a plate (3), in particular a plate having shape defects. An edge of interest is defined on a portion of the plate (3) onto which the joint (2, 102) is intended to be applied. The plate (3) is then placed on a tool (4, 104) comprising a supporting element (5, 105) made of solid material and a supporting element (6, 106) made of flexible material, in such a way that the edge of interest rests on a portion of the supporting element made of flexible material. While the joint is applied onto the edge of interest, the plate is maintained in a predetermined reference position and the element made of flexible material is pushed against the plate, perpendicularly to an outer surface of the element made of flexible material, the outer surface being opposite to the surface on which the edge of interest rests.
END EFFECTOR, WELDING SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR WELDING COMPOSITE COMPONENTS
An end effector for welding composite components includes an end effector housing and a welding member mounted to the end effector housing. The end effector further includes a leading roller mounted to the end effector housing forward of the welding member and at least one follower roller mounted to the end effector housing aft of the welding member. The end effector further includes at least one first cooling air jet positioned to direct a first stream of cooling air toward the at least one follower roller.
FORMING A COMBINED LENS
Apparatus and methods are described including adhering a first lens to a second lens such as to form a combined lens having a given optical design, by placing the first lens and the second lens in respective first and second pressure chambers with an adhesive layer disposed between the first lens and the second lens, bringing a convex surface of the first lens into contact with the adhesive layer, and bringing a concave surface of the second lens into contact with the adhesive layer. Other applications are also described.
SHAPING AN OPHTHALMIC LENS
Apparatus and methods are described including an additional lens (24) made from an amorphous viscoelastic material and having an optical design. A curvature of the additional lens (24) is changed such as to conform with a curvature of abase eyeglasses lens (22), without causing a loss of the optical design of the additional lens (24), by heating the additional lens (24) to a temperature at which a Tan Delta of the amorphous viscoelastic material is between 0.2 and 0.8, and shaping the additional lens (24). Subsequently, the additional lens (24) is adhered to the base eyeglasses lens (22). The optical design of the additional lens (24) is such that, upon being adhered to the base eyeglasses lens (22), the adhered base eyeglasses lens (22) and the additional lens (24) provide a combined lens (20) having a desired optical prescription. Other applications are also described.
WELDING DEVICE AND WELDING METHOD
Provided are a welding device and a welding method that can realize efficient welding in terms of time and in terms of energy. The embodiment includes: a first graphite heater 110 and a second graphite heater 120 that come into contact with a first member 210 and a second member 220; and a first die 130 and a second die 140 that interpose the first and second graphite heaters 110, 120 between each of the first and second members 210, 220 and each die. The first and second graphite heaters 110, 120 have graphite sheets 114, 124 that generate heat by electric power, insulating materials 113, 123, outer covers 111, 121, and inner covers 112, 122 and are configured such that structures of the graphite sheets 114, 124 and the insulating materials 113, 123 interposing the graphite sheets are interposed between outer covers 111, 121 and inner covers 112, 122.
Sealing band in a filling machine
The present invention relates to a sealing band for a sealing jaw arrangement, comprising a contact surface and an opposite bottom surface, a first portion adjacent to the contact surface and a second portion adjacent to the bottom surface. The portions are separated by a waist, and said sealing band is symmetrical along a first axis that extends perpendicularly from a middle of the bottom surface, and the waist between the first portion and the second portion is located closer to the contact surface than to the bottom surface. The invention also relates to a counter jaw for holding the sealing band, and to a sealing jaw arrangement comprising such a counter jaw and a heating jaw.

A method forming an easily separable portion in packaging film by interposing at least two packaging films between a horn emitting ultrasonic waves and an anvil oppositely disposed to the horn, and vibrating the packaging films by the ultrasonic waves, in which a vibratable layer is provided on the packaging film in at least one of the horn side and the anvil side.

A bonding device includes an upper chamber a pad with which a display substrate is pressable to a substrate; a stage between a lower chamber and the pad and including an opening through which air is introduced; a molding member between an upper chamber and the pad and surrounding the pad and the opening; and a support member connected to the stage The display substrate disposed on the molding member disposes first and second portions of the display substrate overlapping the planar and bending portions of the substrate, respectively, the molding member presses the first portion to the planar portion, and air introduced through the opening, expands the molding member to press the second portion to the bending portion.

Method and apparatus for making bags
A machine and method for making bags is described and includes a web traveling from an input section to a rotary drum, to an output section. The rotary drum includes at least one seal bar, having a first sealing zone, and an adjacent weakening zone. The weakening zone may be a heated perforator, includes a heating wire, or be disposed to create an auxiliary sealed area. The heating wire can have connected thereto, a source of power that is an adjustable voltage or magnitude, and/or pulsed, and/or a feedback loop. The heating wire ay be an NiCr wire and make intermittent contact with the web and be disposed in an insert. The weakening zone may create a line of weakness that is uniform or varies in intensity, is a separating zone, or includes a heat film, a toothed blade, a row of pins, a source of air, or a source of vacuum. The sealing zones ma include temperature zones, cartridge heaters, cooling air, or hated air, or a source of ultrasonic, microwave or radiative energy.
