Method and device for anchoring an insert in a structure by using a vibration device

A device for joining material by anchoring an insert comprising a first material in a structure comprising a second material is provided. The first material is solid and comprises thermoplastic properties and the second material is solid and is penetrable by the first material when in a liquefied state. The device comprises a vibration device being configured to transmit vibrations to said insert to cause at least partial liquefaction thereof and being arranged to move, relative to said structure, along an insertion direction (ID) to insert said insert at least partly into said structure, a contact sensor being connected to the vibration device and being adapted to move together with the vibration device along the insertion direction (ID), the contact sensor having a sensor body being adapted to detect contact with said structure. A controller is further connected to the contact sensor and adapted for receiving a contact signal from the contact sensor indicating that the sensor body has come into contact with said structure.

A layered body containing continuous sheets is thermally fused when passing through a space between an anvil roll and an energy applying device to form a layered sheet. A nip stage for sandwiching the layered body is provided upstream of the space between the anvil roll and the energy applying device. The nip stage includes at least one displacement member which is displaced in accordance with the thickness of the layered body sandwiched by the nip stage. Whether the thickness of the layered body sandwiched by the nip stage has deviated from a reference range is detected on the basis of the displacement of the displacement member, and when it is detected that the thickness has deviated from the reference range, the energy applying device is caused to retreat in a direction going away from the anvil roll.

INDUCTIVE WELDING ASSEMBLY & METHOD USING CONDUCTIVE HEAT TRANSFER STRIP

An induction welding assembly and inductive welding method is disclosed. A tooling block includes a workpiece zone, a conductive heat generation and transfer member, and a heat shield, with the conductive heat generation and transfer member being disposed between the workpiece zone and the heat shield. A first workpiece and a second workpiece may be disposed within the workpiece zone such that the first workpiece is disposed between the conductive heat generation and transfer member and the second workpiece. The heat shield, conductive heat generation and transfer member, first workpiece, and second workpiece may be pressed together. An induction coil may be positioned in spaced relation to the heat shield and may be operated to heat the conductive heat generation and transfer member. Heat is conductively transferred by the conductive heat transfer member to the first workpiece to weld the first workpiece and the second workpiece together.
