Equipment for moulding and curing a green tyre

Equipment for molding and curing a green tire includes a curing mold including a first bead molding ring including a first surface for contacting a radially inner and axially inner surface portion of an annular fixing structure of the green tyre and a first sidewall plate including a second surface for contacting a radially inner and axially outer surface portion of the annular fixing structure. The first bead molding ring is radially extendable from a contracted operating position to an expanded operating position so as to delimit a portion of the annular fixing structure between the first sidewall plate and the first bead molding ring, and the first bead molding ring is translatable towards the first sidewall plate for generating a first squeezing pressure on the annular fixing structure. The equipment further includes an inflatable bladder associated for operation with the curing mold.

METHOD OF BUILDING A TIRE WITH NO BEAD TURNUP

A method of building a tire having no ply turnup is described. The method includes the steps of applying an inner liner and chafer onto a tire building drum; radially expanding the center portion of the drum and applying a first column bead, applying a layer of ply followed by a second column bead, turning up the chafer and then inflating the carcass under low pressure below 150 mbars, applying the tread, applying the sidewall. A method of molding a green tire having a first and second bead area is described herein, wherein the method includes the steps of: inserting a tire clamping device inside a tire bladder and then inserting the tire clamping device and the bladder into the green tire, aligning the outer surfaces of the tire clamping device are in engagement with a respective bead area of the tire so that each tire bead area is clamped between a respective upper and lower mold ring and the tire clamping device during cure.

METHOD OF CONTROLLING A PHASE OF MOULDING AN ANNULAR FIXING STRUCTURE AND A TYRE INCLUDING AN ANNULAR FIXING STRUCTURE

A tyre includes a toroidal ring-shaped carcass structure with at least one carcass ply associated with at least one annular fixing structure, as well as a tread band positioned radially externally with respect to the carcass structure. The annular fixing structure includes a radially inner and axially inner surface and a radially inner and axially outer surface, the surfaces being substantially opposed to each other. The radially inner and axially inner surface and radially inner and axially outer surface are shaped by successive application of a first squeezing pressure produced by a first surface and a second surface of a curing mould that are brought towards each other, as well as a second squeezing pressure produced by bringing the first and second surfaces closer together. The radially inner and axially inner surface and/or radially inner axially outer surface have a shape that includes air evacuation channels.
