Personalized Vehicle Component System
20220058302 · 2022-02-24 ·

The present invention relates to a customization previewing system for a component for a vehicle, such as a motorcycle. In one embodiment, the system comprises paintable scaled models or prototypes for OEM motorcycle components, such as fenders, fuel tanks, saddlebags and the like. The model prototypes are configured to be between 50 and 80 percent in size of the OEM motorcycle components to enable the owner to accurately preview or visualize a customization job before the same is performed on the actual OEM motorcycle component. Each of the model prototypes is also comprised of a mounting hook for mounting the prototype to a wall or other surface. A spray painter is used to spray the paint, decoration or graphic onto the prototype and change the color thereof based on the preferences of the user.

MATTING AGENT RESIN FOR 3D PRINTING

The invention relates a resin composition containing a polymer matting agent, that improves the aesthetic appearance of an article formed by Material Extrusion 3D printing. The composition contains 30-99.9 wt % thermoplastic resin and 0.1-50 wt % of one or more spherical or near-spherical polymeric matting agents (PMAs) such as Altuglas Acryperl? beads from Arkema. Objects 3D printed from the composition have hidden layer lines (a.k.a. build lines) and is more uniform in appearance, compared to an object printed from the same thermoplastic resin without PMAs.

ACRYLIC BEADS FOR ENHANCING MATTE APPEARANCE OF POLYOLEFIN FILMS

A film comprising a) at least one base layer comprising a thermoplastic polymeric matrix material; and b) a skin layer comprising a thermoplastic polymeric matrix material and from 5 wt % to 80 wt % of polymeric particles having an average particle diameter from 0.5 m to 15 m, a refractive index from 1.46 to 1.7, and at least 60 mole % of acrylic monomer units wherein the film is stretched by a factor of 2 to 8 uniaxially or biaxially; and wherein after stretching, the skin layer has a thickness that is between 50% and 200% of the diameter of the polymeric particles, and a method of making the film, are disclosed.

An acrylic composition includes a first component that accounts for 20 wt % to 40 wt % of the total weight of the acrylic composition and the first component includes an olefin block copolymer comprising hard segments and soft segments, of which the soft segments have from 9 mol % to less than 15 mol % of comonomer content. A second component of the acrylic composition accounts for 25 wt % to 70 wt % of the total weight of the acrylic composition and the second component includes at least one oil and at least one polyolefin. A third component of the acrylic composition accounts for 15 wt % to 65 wt % of the total weight of the acrylic composition and the third component includes acrylic particles having an average particle size from 0.5 m to 30 m and at least one inorganic filler. The acrylic particles account for at least 10 wt % of the total weight of the third component.
