PACKAGING SHEETING AND A METHOD OF MANUFACTURING PACKAGING SHEETING
A method of manufacturing sheeting is provided, the method including the steps of forming multiple recesses in a symmetrical repeat pattern on a sheet of material, extruding a molten material to form an upper outside wall and a lower outside wall, interposing the formed sheet between the upper outside wall and the lower outside wall, and fixing the interposed sheet to the upper outside wall and the lower outside wall. Also provided is sheeting having an upper outside wall and a lower outside wall and an interposed sheet fixed between the outside walls. The interposed sheet includes multiple recesses in a symmetrical repeat pattern, where the upper and lower outside walls are, or the interposed sheet is, manufactured from a material which includes a polymeric material.
COMPOSITE FOILS BIODISINTEGRATABLE AT HOME COMPOST CONDITIONS
The use of an aqueous polyurethane dispersion adhesive is described for producing composite foils which are biodisintegratable at home compost conditions where at least two substrates are adhesive-bonded to one another with use of the polyurethane dispersion adhesive, where at least one of the substrates is a polymer foil which is biodisintegratable at home compost conditions. At least 60% by weight of the polyurethane is composed of diisocyanates, polyesterdiols, and at least one bifunctional carboxylic acid selected from dihydroxy carboxylic acids and diamino carboxylic acids, wherein the polyurethane has no melting point above 20° C. or wherein the polyurethane has a melting point above 20° C. with an enthalpy of fusion lower than 10 J/g, and wherein a film of the polyurethane adhesive is biodegradable at home compost conditions.
RECYCLABLE PLASTIC LABEL
The disclosure relates to a mechanically recyclable label (1) comprising a face (2) and an adhesive (4). The face (2) comprises ethylene containing polymer and the adhesive (4) comprises pressure sensitive adhesive. The pressure sensitive adhesive comprises at least 15 wt. % of a base polymer, at least 25 wt. % of a tackifier and at least 10 wt. % of a plasticizer. The base polymer, the tackifier and the plasticizer are colourless and odourless. The base polymer is a polyolefin. The mechanically recyclable label (1) is mechanically recyclable with packaging material comprising ethylene containing polymer. The disclosure further relates to a label laminate (8), a method for manufacturing a label laminate (8), a labelled item (101), as well as to use of a label (1) and of a label laminate (8). The disclosure also relates to use of a waste matrix of the label laminate for producing granulates of recycled plastic.
Laminate
A laminate comprising: a gas barrier layer (I) comprising a modified starch (A) having an average amylose content of 45% by mass or more and a water-soluble polymer (B); and a substrate (II) adjacent to the gas barrier layer (I), wherein the laminate exhibits a degree of biodegradation of 80% or more in a biodegradability test in accordance with ISO 14855-1.
Recyclable packaging material and process of preparation thereof
A recyclable article includes 50-90 wt % of at least one polyethylene having a density in the range 0.94 to 0.97 g/cm.sup.3. The article exhibits Young's modulus less than 700 MPa; and a haze value less than or equal to 50%. The recyclable article can be included in a film or a laminate. The article can be prepared using a blown film extrusion process.
FLOOR COVERING WITH UNIVERSAL BACKING AND METHODS OF MAKING AND RECYCLING
A dimensionally stable universal floor covering includes a tufted textile having stitches and a reinforcement layer operatively connected to the stitches to provide dimensional stability for the entire floor covering. The reinforcement layer is made of fibers that are initially contained within a composition of adhesive and fibers. Mixing of the adhesive/fibers composition and/or injection of compressed air, assists in preparing the adhesive and fiber composition to be in the preferred condition and position prior to the forming of the reinforcement layer. Multiple sources of pressure, including vacuum, are applied in a controlled manner for moving the adhesive and fiber composition to form a reinforcement layer of fibers that is operatively connected to the stitches and/or to form a layer of fibers and adhesive that is contained within the stitches. The universal floor covering is selectively cut and transported in a roll for installation, and it can be conveniently recycled if necessary.
COMPOSITE BOARD FROM PLASTIC WASTE
Plastic waste is shredded and formed to a desired shape and held together using a binder and/or heat, etc. The resulting composite material may be useful for building and/or furniture and/or flooring, etc. (similar to wood composite board). In some embodiments, the board is highly water resistant. Optionally, the board is made of layers. For example, an inner layer has reduced density and/or an outer layer may have decreased particle size and/or increased fiber content.
The base polymer is a styrene block copolymer.
