Structural panel with woven element core
A structural panel includes a first skin, a second skin and a core. The core is connected to the first skin and the second skin. The core includes a corrugated sheet of wire mesh that includes a plurality of corrugations. Each of the corrugations extends vertically between and engages the first skin and the second skin.
Additive manufactured water resistant closed-cell lattice structure for marine hull cavities
Apparatus and associated methods relate to using an additive (material deposition) process to incrementally form a closed-cell lattice structure formed as a unitary body in the shape of a marine hull cavity, the unit cells of the closed-cell lattice structure are substantially hollow. In an illustrative example, a method may include (a) forming a closed-cell lattice structure through additive manufacture, the hull cavity material may be bonded to an upper manufactured liner and a lower manufactured liner through lamination or mechanical connection. Unit cells of the closed-cell lattice structure may include hollow voids filled with gases. Providing the additive manufactured closed-cell lattice structure with a unitary body and hollow voids to trap gases may further advantageously promote the buoyancy and reduce the degeneration of a marine hull.
FIBER-REINFORCED RESIN COMPOSITE SHEET, FIBER-REINFORCED RESIN COMPOSITE MATERIAL, AND MOLDED RESIN ARTICLE INCLUDING SAME
A fiber-reinforced resin composite sheet of the present invention contains: a polyamide resin film containing a dicarboxylic acid component (a) and a diamine component (b); and a plurality of reinforcing fibers laminated in a state of being oriented in the same direction on the polyamide resin film, the reinforcing fibers being obtained by opening a reinforcing fiber bundle. The dicarboxylic acid component (a) contains 60 mol % or more and 100 mol % or less of terephthalic acid. The diamine component (b) contains 60 mol % or more and 100 mol % or less of 1,9-nonanediamine and 2-methyl-1,8 octanediamine. The fiber-reinforced resin composite sheet has a volume content rate Vf of the reinforcing fibers of 20% or more and 70% or less and a thickness of 20 μm or more and 70 μm or less.
Resin composition, production method for resin composition, and molded body using resin composition
There is provided a resin composition, comprising an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer and a nonionic surfactant, wherein the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer has an ethylene unit content of 15 to 60 mol %, and a saponification degree of 90 mol % or more; the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer is contained as a major component; and the nonionic surfactant is contained at 3 to 400 ppm. The resin composition is produced by melt-kneading a mixture comprising the nonionic surfactant, water and the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer. By using the resin composition thus produced, a discharge amount during melt molding can be increased and a molded article with an excellent appearance can be provided.
Method of making marine decking
A marine deck member with enhanced surface traction and the process for forming the same. The marine deck member comprises a sandwich-type composite panel made by a compression molding process. In such a process, the panel is made by subjecting a heated stack of layers of material to cold-pressing in a mold. The cellular core has a 2-D array of cells, each of the cells having an axis substantially perpendicular to the outer surfaces, and extending in the space between the layers or skins, with end faces open to the respective layers or skins. The surface traction of this type of composite panel can be enhanced for marine deck applications by controlled debossing, or embossing, of the first skin while it cools in the compression mold. The debossing effect can be effected by applying pressurized gas, e.g., pressurized air, onto the outer surface of the first skin while in the compression mold. The embossing can be effected by applying vacuum pressure on the outer surface of the first skin while in the compression mold.
Vacuum insulated articles with reflective material enhancement
Provided are vacuum-insulated articles that comprise an evacuated space disposed between first and second walls and a reflective material disposed within the evacuated space. Also provided are methods of fabricating such articles.
Vehicle window having an anisotropic light sensor
A vehicle window with an anisotropic light sensor, has a first glass layer and a second glass layer, wherein an arrangement of light-sensitive elements is arranged, substantially parallel to the first glass layer, between the first glass layer and the second glass layer, wherein the pane furthermore has an aperture such that light can shine through the second glass layer and the aperture onto at least one of the light-sensitive elements, wherein, depending on the direction of incident light, the sensor provides a signal that is indicative of the direction, wherein the arrangement of light-sensitive elements has a camera chip and wherein the arrangement of light-sensitive elements is arranged on a flexible film.
LIQUID APPLIED ROOFING SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FORMING ROOFS
A method of forming a sloped roof can comprise obtaining a base layer comprising at least one of a permeable mesh, woven fabric, non-woven fabric, plastic, foam material or combinations thereof; applying the base layer over a roofing substrate of the sloped roof; and applying a liquid roofing material to the base layer to form a liquid applied roof.
Thermal shield system
A thermal shield system with wireless control capabilities including a multi-layer shield, a housing containing a power source and processor, and a programmable control mechanism, wherein the control mechanism is in communication with the processor to facilitate direct or remote manual programming of time and temperature of the shield system. The multi-layer shield includes a perimeter having a first layer comprised of reflective material, a second layer comprised of a plurality of conductive pads arranged in a plurality of rows within a structural support sheet, a third layer comprised of thermal material, an electrical wire running through and connecting said conductive pads of the second layer, and a surround spanning the perimeter of the shield. The surround of the shield has flexibility to allow folding or rolling for compact storage of said shield and having rigidity to provide structural integrity of said shield. The electrical wire connects each of the plurality of conductive pads in a series to generate consistent and uniform heat while minimizing depletion of the power source.
